Featured Replies

hello, ive owned mine from febaury this year.its a 04 plate and it came with 27000 miles on it. its been serviced every 4000 miles by skoda and hpi clear.its had everything done due to how many months old it is woop woop.

ive just covered 10000 miles in it this week as new job is a drive away.

brought for mine:-

2 new tyres

cupra console bushes

polyflex wishbone bushes

koni springs

eibech farb and poly bushed

omp front lower strut brace

superPRO dogbone mount

allard egr delete

green cotton filter

pd160 intake

am very happy with it would say to anyone to get one as it cheap tax and insurance for me :rofl: good on fuel and fun to drive with the mods!!

10000 miles this week? Have you added a nought in there dude?!

143,000 miles

Drivers side electric window switch failed

Rear wiper motor

countless tyres

Coolant expansion tank

2 batteries

A couple of CV boot joints

Discs and pads a few times

Resistor pack for A/C temp

Before turbo went at 140k miles i'd run 110k+ on standard original clutch and turbo with 175bhp/290lb/ft.

All in all I'd say very reliable

I had my 2004vRS from new and it was very reliable - though with a few problems - I'd rate it 9 out of 10 up to 48,000 miles and 5 out of 10 after that (and a £1000 deficit in my wallet). So I sold it at 64,500 miles at the end of July 2010 and bought a 2007vRS SE thinking I would return to a state of reliability.

I now bitterly regret having done that having had a lot of niggling problems with the SE most of which the dealer has refused to acknowledge or do anything about.

Hence I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of the SE and abandoning Skodas for ever! And possibly second-hand cars even.

The only thing stopping me at present is the fact that I paid top book and more for the SE believing it to be in "mint condition" as described and if I sell now I'm probably looking at a substantial loss...

I'm assuming you bought it from a Skoda dealer? If so then contact Skoda customer services and explain all this. They can be remarkably helpful. Or not. It can't hurt to try though.

I'm in two minds about it - if I do will my poor relationship with the garage go down even more?

And my first experience hasn't gone well either - I complained to customer services that their listing states that approved Skoda used car retailers give a 12 month used car warranty - but the one I bought my car from doesn't and Skoda are refusing to change their website to make this clear.

It doesn't help that I've also bought a two year service package which will be wasted if I sell the car.

Had my 06 VRS from new and it's coming up to the 80k service soon.

I love the car and it has never let me down. I have had to have most of the known issues done - all of which were covered under warranty and done without argument by my really helpful local Skoda dealer. I was concerned that there maybe some unexpected costs luking when the 3 year warranty expired.............but I need not have worried as only regular servicing has been needed since it was 3 years old.

I often get bored with cars after a couple of years but I still get a buzz out of driving the VRS (still feels as fresh as the day I got it) and cannot see anything on offer from other manufacturers that comes near it for value and driving satisfaction. I am hoping that Skoda will see sense and bring out a Fabia mk2 VRS diesel. If they don't and whilst mine continues to provide reliable service I'll keep this one and keep my money in the bank......

Just treated the current car to a new set of steel wheels and winter tyres - so I am looking forward to trying these out in the colder weather which will no doubt be with us soon.

That was my feeling in buying another one. I looked around and couldn't find anything else that suited my needs. I think the new vRS is pricey even though it's cheaper than its cousins, very pricey when you factor in other Fabias can be had VAT free. I seriously considered getting a new Elegance at a saving of thousands compared with a vRS but I just don't like the look of the new car at all - far too cutesy.

I should have stuck to my original proposal and switched to a Yeti - but I was seduced by the SE...

Had mine for 1 year

- 56 Plate with 43,000mile

- 1 new bulb (£24 for a set)

- new blades (£22 for a set)

- one new tyre (£80)

- rear door seals (done myself, £4.00)

- egr valve gasket (still haven't got round to changing it, £3 odd)

Gonna need a new timing belt which I've been quoted £270 for.

I've had mine for 18 months and covered 24k miles I have had to replace 2 front suspension bushes and 1 wheel bearing

I've done 60,000 miles in mine (got it at 30,000) and from memory these are the only faults I remember that were the cars fault:

- Intercooler hose popped off where the joint was worn at the bottom.

- Reverse light switch broke

- Reverse light wire broke about 5000 miles later

- Alternator control wire broke where it goes along the front of the engine (VW Make them too short I think!)

- Brake lights stopped working (brake pedal switch)

- The front console bushes wore out (replaced with Seat ones)

All in all I am very happy with it though. :)

Mine's now on 44000 ish, I've done 25000 of those.

Usual stuff, tyres, wipers, console bushes, etc.

However, I've had two fairly major failures.

First was the DMF at 29000 miles. God knows what the previous owner did to kill it but it had completely had it by then. Whilst out, the clutch was replaced as well.

Secondly, the fuel pump rely went leaving me stranded. No warning, just got to a roundabout and suddenly couldn't pull off.

I still love the car though, and it's as reliable as a car can get for me!

I bought my 54 plate vRS on 64k and is now on 97k! Overall it's been by far the most reliable car I have ever owned and have spent more money modifying than repairing it. It's serviced regularly and is well looked after but here's my list of failures:

- 2 headlamp bulbs

- rear door seals (fixed them myself with some all purpose silicone 2 years ago)

- leaking radiator so replaced it

- blocked diesel injector (found one from breakers cost £250 with fitting as the part new from stealers is £650 :sick: )

- 1 set of front Eagle F1s and 2 sets of Toyo proxes

- Front bushes

Not bad given it's done 50 laps of the ring and a handful of UK track sessions.

I'm starting a turbo replacement fund though as I reckon that'll be the next thing to go :thumbup:

EDIT: forgot to mention I've obviously had a couple sets of pads and discs.

05 plate with 55k on the clock, owned it from new and have only had to replace normal service items, even the Cam belt Change was reasonable at £285 in The local Skoda Dealer, very happy with the car and intend to keep it as long as I can

And at 95,000 miles my brake light switch failed, brake lights stopped working and glow plug light started flashing.

A £10 part from TPS and 30 minutes of me working out how to get the various bits of trim off and back on later, and I had replaced it myself and the car's back perfect again :)

04 Furby owned from new

Now just had 110,000k service

From memory...................rear door seals when still under warranty along with repainted front bumper(well known vrs fault), new steering rack.

Hose to rear wash wipe kept coming off but sorted that with a small zip tie.

Still on original clutch/exhaust

Had front discs replaced for first time during 110,000k service

Oh and the brake pedal switch/sensor went bringing on the glow plug light.

Seems to have a penchant for headlamp bulbs occasionally too

To sum up....................a thoroughy excellent little car. Defo had our moneys worth and its still going strong.

Front console bushes do need replacing tho..........advisory for past two MOTs lol

Shocking.

Either ive been mugged off by a previous owner or i got a bad vrs.

Bought 1 month ago and so far needed new steering rack and either the turbo has gone or the pipes have popped off and now the glow plugs or something are gone because it takes about 15 seconds to turn over.

Well, my wife's MPi is older but lower-mileage (9 years, 69k), and it's had:

New radiator;

New rocker cover gasket;

New thermostat and coolant temp sensor;

New evaporator temp sensor;

New oil pressure sensor;

New heater / air con panel;

New battery;

New wishbone bushes (Cupra / OEM);

New handbrake switch;

New exhaust backbox.

The rad and the backbox were done by my local garage for peanuts, and the bushes, rocker cover gasket and oil pressure sensor were done at Awesome. Everything else has been DIY, and TBH it's much easier to work on than my vRS! Total cost of repairs has been about 500 quid over the three years we've had it, although about half that was for the bushes. Trouble is, the car's going to be too small if the family gets any bigger and I'm not looking forward to getting something larger that I'm less confident fixing...

Heigh-ho! :S

I've had mine for just over a year now.

When I first got it I had a badly fitted front drivers side wishbone thing, where some incompetent mechanic the previous owner used got two bolts mixed up ... on one side only???? One bolt was significantly shorter than the other and had worked itself loose! That was an accident waiting to happen...

Other than that I don't think there's been too much:

- Turbo went pop. Previous owner skimped on a second hand turbo just to sell it. ~£1000 for a MD376 as a replacement ;-)

- Starter motor signal wire went snap - easy enough DIY repair costing £0

- Drivers side window regulator died. I think that cost £200 ish to get sorted at the dealers.

- Leaky rear and front doors. £10 for sealant.

- Leaking radiator costing £45? for the dealer diagnosis and something like £35 for a brand spanking new radiator from ebay, DIY fitted.

- The usual filter, oil, bulb etc changes.

- A problem which was likely caused by myself fitting aftermarket speakers... I had a problem with the bulb warning light intermittently coming on, even though no bulbs were out. It was a relay we'd dislodged under the steering wheel. Clicked it back in to place and it's been absolutely fine since :)

- Console bushes replaced with the solid SEAT parts. Bushes were about ~£25, fitted for £50 :)

I think that's about it. I'm pretty happy with it so far... considering it's got 118k miles on the clock (I've only had it for about 10k miles mind). I've spent more money modifying it than repairing it.
