Flat tyre

Featured Replies

Store it upright, tied to the fixing points, much better way of dealing with it. Can't use the parcel shelf though without cutting itemoticon-0149-no.gif

I must have a look to see if a modified ie raised section, would be possible, so as to still use the parcel shelf.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I've seen some photo's on here somewhere of a spare stored upright.

They are my posts.......

Just adding tupence worth, moving over from MINI to Skoda. Runflat ryres has the letters RSC in a circle on the outside wall. They definatley work and will allow between 50-150 miles travel (depenedant on which version)if the tyre has a puncture but is otherwise sound. On a dark, in bad weather on a hard shoulder or any combination, worth their weight in gold to not have to change the wheel. The cons are the "firm" ride quality although this improved significantly over the three cars I owned, also if you end up replacing a pair the cost can be very high for the lower profile versions.

Does anyone on the board know if you can order a full sized spare wheel with the Yeti. I know it will eat more boot space. But on a longer touring trip, finding a tyre may not be the easiest thing to achieve.

Full size tyres don't fit a Yeti if you have spare wheel option....."loose tied down in the boot somewhere is all you can do.

This thread has made me wonder a bit, is it a problem with puncture on Yetis?

I have owned 4x4´s for the last 35 years, and have had only one puncture, 20 years ago on a Chevrolet,

got a big nail in one wheel.

I do not carry a spare wheel, and did not intend to do so, but after reading all posts here I am not

sure anymore......

Any thoughts?

cheers

I pondered this before ordering a spare wheel for my Yeti. My only concern regarding the inflator and gunge that is supplied as standard is that it wouldn't fix anything other than a small puncture. A blowout or damage to the side walls of the tyre would leave you stranded, so for peace of mind I specced the spare wheel. It does considerably reduce the available boot space but I'd rather have the ability to remain mobile. I have NEVER had a puncture in 40 years of motoring but I have damaged tyre side walls.

Over the last few years I've had my share of punctures and side walls tear. Enough for me never to leave home without a spare wheel.

The 2 most recent was an object on the motorway which I couldn't avoid, which luckily didn't damage the tyre, only the rim. But as was on steel rims, a club hammer soon sorted out that! The last one happened pulling off a narrow road to get out of the way of an ambulance, and managed to damage the sidewall beyond repair.
