Tyres for Winter...

Featured Replies

Need to get all 4 done A.S.A.P (according to the policeman ha)

I used to have t1-r's on previous cars but that was during the summer. They only last like 5k miles though :/

Just wondering what would be the best choice if im re newing them all this time of year.

Rainsport 2's?

There both around £60 ea.

Any other recommendations.

I was going to ask the same thing.

I have been looking at Kumho KW23 at ~£50 or Hankook W301's at ~£80. I can't decide, and after much searching I still can't find much about either of them!

Too hard of a choice. Im picky... i like them to look good aswell ha. Loved the look of T1-R's. But looks shouldnt be taken into consideration on tires ha!

Will obviously be buying from www.camskill.co.uk.

So cheap compared to others.

Dunno about proper winter tyres, but as for wet/cold tyres, rainsports seem to get nothing but good reviews. My mate reckons its almost like driving in the dry lol. Kinda proves it when they're outta stock everywhere too! Just found my self a set local thankfully!

It is indeed. I'll probably go back to T1-R's next summer. Never had winter tyres before. Last year in the winter with T1R's still on was an experience...

I found mytyres had the best range of winter tyres for the standard size alloys. I think camskill only had Toyo SnowProx 943 (or something like that). I guess that's another choice though!

Not really interested in "Winter" tyres as such.

Its just im getting all 4 done now and it wouldnt make sense buying 4 proxes or other summer based tyres.

Think its rainsports for me. Should be abouut £260 fitted.

Not bad. Shame camskill is out of stock!

I know Camskill are selling Toyos for that price, but where did you get Rainsport 2s for £60 each? The places that stock them sell them at £70+ each.

Ive said for years that the Uniroyal Rainsports are the best all round tyre for use in this country (considering its usually damp or wet on the roads for most of it!) :giggle:

Ive ended up running nothing but rainsports on my previous six or so cars. The toyos are slighty better on warm summer tarmac but oeverall I rate the Uniroyals much higher, mainly due to their ability to grip in the damp and wet, both when moving off (they were one of the few that could put 330bhp down on a previous fast fwd Focus) and for sideways grip. I always used to find that the Toyo's compound was somehow ineffective by the time they had got down to 3mm whereas the Rainsports still seem to work well (currently on my car at exactly 3mm now and still good)!
