New vRS on order!

Featured Replies

After looking all over the VAG group (Audi, VW and Skoda) I have had by far the best feel for the Octavia. Originally looked at the L&K, but after hopping in and giving the vRS a spin I was sold. One can get the new Passat at not so much more, also with the 170 bhp diesel and DSG, however it means cutting down on some of the extras. I opted for the sportyness of the Octavia.

My dealer says to expect (and claims to be honest) a three month wayt, as opposed to one with a manual stick which would have been delivered in two months.

Pushing 40, getting there next year, I am stumbling towards a midlife crisis with steady pace and a grin on my face. Such a situation calls for action, and that is why I ordered my first Skoda two days ago. It is going to be an Octavia vRS diesel with all the props. I really don't think there was any more boxes left to tick... A great way for a man coming of age to stay young at heart! :-)

Coming from something entirely different, the Hyundai Santa Fe, i look forward to the sporty feel of the vRS. And I wonder a bit about how much I will come to miss it's four wheel drive that I offered on the altar of sportiness. In the UK Skoda has a much more (apparantly) "tough" branding than that in Norway where it is marketed as "The sensible choice". The vRS has a byline that actually says "Just 99 percent sensible". Having seen the latest UK video showcasing the "making" of the Fabia vRS I can truly say that I would have loved to see something similar on the Octavia. On Norwegian television it would have made a statement for sure among the everyday dullness of "now with xenon bulbs"....

Anyway. I put together a list of the fittings. Can't wait to late February....

- Race Blue Metallic

- Sunroof

- Upgraded Soundsystem with 12 speakers

- Colombus headunit

- Full leather trim

- Sun-Set dark rear windows

- Backseat heating

- Handsfree Premium (rSAP - and yes I know what that implies :-) )

- Multifunctional RS-steering wheel

- Mobile Device Inerface

- Electric windows all around

- Heated light washers (Norway, remember?)

- Silver rails

- Folding and dimmable outside mirrors

- Cruisecontrol

- Detachable trailermount (or whatever you guys call it)

- Neptune 18" alloys

Nice spec! Wish they did the Upgraded sound system in the UK!

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think you'll get rear heated seats on a VRS - I asked for this too having used the online configurator to be later informed that this option was not available on the VRS - it was a problem with the configurator and only available on the L&K. Disappointing that 2 months later they still haven't resolved this. I'd double check with your dealer ASAP.

Cheers.

i'm guessin u norwegians get the maxidot as standard?

if not, make sure u option it in.

congrats on the purchase :)

same here - we don't get the 12-spkr option here in oz :(

It may be different in Norway... In a country that gets that cold it would make sense to have it available... As we all know, the standard spec and available options varies from country to country

Which is odd, because I would have thought they'd love the opportunity to sell more extras!

You mean like folding mirrors, uprated sound system and MFSW on Manual vRS's (just to name three...)

That's a really weird list of options you can't have on the manual. To think, someone at Skoda UK must have umpteen meetings before deciding to not allow them

I would have ordered the folding mirrors and the uprated sound system on my vRS had they been available.

I got the MFSW as I bought a DSG but for some reason you cannot order a MFSW on a manual vRS. I'd love to know the reasoning for that.

Having had MFSW on various cars since about 2003 I'd hate to not have one now...

If they had a MFSW on the manual and BT I would have ordered another VRS in a flash, as it goes I got a fully loaded Mazda 6 2.2D Sport instead.

Thanks for all your answers!

I had a thorough chat with the sales guy, and I think I'm good on the rear seat heating. Could be a Scandinavian config.

I have till tomorrow to decide on color. Put down an order for Race Blue, but family seems to think black.

Any thoughts?

Red!!!

Red!!!

Red never really entered the equation I'm afraid. I like it, only I like the other ones (Blue and black) even better.

But creds to you for driving something that does not pop up on every corner!

Anthracite

Anthracite

I have black but anthracite really tempted me.

Anthracite

I'm biased, but.....Anthracite. :D Black is lovely, but a b1tch to keep-Anthracite is quite stealthy-not in yer face, and is quite easy to keep.

And not too common yet!

silver or anthracite - doesn't show road grime as much, but then, my race blue's pretty good at hiding it.
