Few problems fabia vrs, odd problems?

Featured Replies

Recently a little red warning light (looks like a seat pushed forwards with am arrow telling you to push it back) it flashes up when I go over a bumper or have to brake hard. Also when turning corners my headlights dim, I am sure I read on here it was something to do with the battery being old? I have checked the owners manual but I can't find the symbol any where! Also there is a leak from my washer jet tank, at the front of the car, by passenger fog light, any pipes etc round here that are prone to split?

Thanks all

oh is 55plate blt engine on 95k, battery hasn't been changed before

stick your ignition on and drop the rear seats

if the warning light comes on it probably wasn't clicked back into place the first time originally and is shifting slightly when you brake or go over a speed hump breaking the contact and making the light come on

lights sound like a dying battery or alternator.

extra juice required by the power steering to turn the wheels saps energy away from the light dimming them slightly.

I'd be only concerned if it's doing it to a noticeable while your driving - while manouvering at car park speeds i'd say that normal.

Do your washer jets still work or has the hose come off completely?

There are a few threads about where the pipes pop off in cold weather and one about replacing the washer bottle for a larger one - these'll probably give you go places to start investigating

Cheers mate, no it's not too bad I just noticed when trying to get out of my house the other evening in the dark. Yep washers still work fine etc, seems to be a leak or something

Also, on the dipstick how much oil should I have? Again read the manual but it doesn't tell you! Mine is currently just above the all the square dimples, if you see what I mean

thats over Max..... the oil should be within those dimples.

That's what I mean - too weak a solution, and it freezes causing joints to pop off and leak. It's possible for the joints to pop, but the open ends to butt against each other so that you still get a certain amount of flow - you'll be able to tell by HOW FAR the jet goes up the rear screen.

As for your oil level, it sounds like it's a bit higher than it should be, although provided it's not above the 'kink' you shouldn't have to drain any off...

I work to the "kink" principle too - usually when it comes back from service it's several mm above the kink - at least using the two local garages to here...

Well as I said the oil is just touching the top of the square dimples, so i guess between there and the kink is ok?

Yea I brought the car about two months ago before this cold weather set in,so probably had summer strength washer fluid in it. haven't had to change it so it's probably alot weaker. Looks like a fun day on Sunday and some jubilee clips!

You do not need Jubilee clips, the pipes are designed to pop off to stave off any damage, you just pop them back together, it is a fail safe thing for your washers freezing up, Instead of the pump motor burning out or blowing the fuses

National

There is a plastic diverter on the end of the washer pump. This can get damaged by frozen washer fluid and causes a leak which drips slowly (can empty it in about a week). To replace is a pain in the arse and comes as part of a new pump.

Oh fair enough thanks for saying! I thought it was like the crimped vw hoses instead of jubilee clips, oh and ap0gee, I had a wrestle with my rear seats as I must have slightly knocked them out the other day when I had a compressor in my boot, sorted it ;) thanks again matey
