Finally got to see what the rear spoiler looks like

Then straight down to get the windows tinted - Full limo tint on rears and very light tint on fronts

Only driven it 60 miles at moment but everything is looking good the build quality is first class and the lights are second to non normally do about 40 to 50K a year so we should soon put it to the test but so far well impressed

Very, VERY nice car

Enjoy it.

Mine will also be a mile muncher (40-50k annum) so here's to reliability

What a lovely car! The tinted windows look good, where did you get them done? I'm a fan of the spoiler, I have to say. I have white leather in my Octavia and it looks beautiful but is a trial to keep clean, but worth it.

Had the windows done at Sol-Ace Window Tinting Ltd, Gravel Hll, Bucks, SL9 9QP, 01753 890011. they did my Jaguar XType estate nearly 4 years ago and the windows still looked as good as when they were done when the car was left as part ex at the dealers yesterday. Stef realy knows what hes doing hence letting him loose an a car I that I have had for 4 hours

Looks fab! - Love the Limo windows - had my last 2 cars Limo'd, but had factory tint on my Superb...

Do watch out with them front windows tho - they will be illegal, and dont dare come to Durham! - Police are dam hot on them up 'ere!

Looks really nice, well done.

Ivory rulez!

What is wrong with your rear seat belts?

Almost exactly build I am planning to order. I still can't decide about few things, mostly because I am not able to actually see them. Since you have similar taste maybe you can help me decide:

1) Glamour vs Alcantara beige leather.

Actually I saw the difference, and kinda prefer Alcantara as I don't like to glide in seat and hate extreme cold/hot days. Also looks better to me since it is less shiny but still bright. But I am worried little bit about maintenance, never had Alcantara but I remember that even black leather was demanding for maintenance and prone to wrinkles. I know that it is artificial material, so I hope it is better regarding cleaning. any experiences?

2) Beige vs black carpets.

Never saw black carpets with Beige leather. I had a hard time persuading dealership that combination exists even if it is not in catalog. Only place where I saw that was online configuration where only small thumbnail picture can be seen. Not that I like black, but I know that beige carpets and bottom upholstery cannot stay beige. If someone has any photos or videos where it can be seen, it would help a lot. I am worried that black carpeting might be to obtrusive and make space look smaller, darker.

3) Bad road vs Normal trim

All I found is that bad road package raise clearance for 2cm, and that it has stiffer springs. I am not off-roader, but unfortunately I am regular visitors to sidewalks and frequently going over kerbs. And I have bad experiences with regular height cars which have shorter wheelbase. From time to time I scratch lower part with my C4 Grand Picasso, so with same height and longer wheelbase it's bigger chance of touching it. I never saw pictures of higher trim, and can't see difference and does it look bad. I think I saw in some videos that suspension was awkwardly higher, but not sure it is normal from bad angle or bad road package. It would help if someone can show me some links where I can see difference even if it is Octavia as I believe that same difference applies.

4) Heated windscreen and GPS interference

I will order cheaper Amundsen navigation, but both uses same external antenna. However I won't have much usage since my country is not covered, I will use it just on trips trough Europe. That would mean that I will occasionally use additional windscreen mounted navigation. And I remember that there was discussion on C4 Picasso forums that even athermic windshield can cause trouble, which only has additional layer of some kind of reflecting material which might interfere with GPS reception. On Superb, salesman explained to me that heated windscreen is "actively" heated, like rear window, just with much smaller heaters, which can't be easily seen. I think I had that option on 2002 A4 Audi, but it was just kind of thicker heated element on the border of windscreen, not trough whole windscreen. Does anyone has idea how it is done in Superb and does it really interfere GPS reception?

Hopefully you someone had similar decisions to made, and help me to decide. My dealership is awful, and even in whole Balkans region I can't find answers. All cars I've seen are coming with regular preset of equipment, I guess people were not willing to experiment. I am not willing to wait long, I would like to order ASAP, because rough estimate is end of February for late November orders.

Thanks

Had the same tints on my Xtype and had no trouble and do come to Durham so we will see, went for tints rather than factory as it makes the windows a lot harder to smash, if the poor local unfortunates need something from your car! happened 3 times in the cart before the X Type

I had Limo Rear tints, and Anti-Smah Riot grade film on my fronts on the last car, but no window tinter round here will put any sort of shade onto the front sides, even if you sign a disclaimer :( or mine would have it on!

It is illegal to tint the windscreen. The sides can be done but have to allow a minimum amount of light through so that you can see oncoming traffic, pedestrians etc at night or low light conditions. The ones Kensym has look OK, the Traffic Police actually have a litle light meter to check the legality of the windows.

Anyway, you wouldn't drive at night wearing sunglasses would you?

Modern cars come with the Legal amount of tint to the glass from factory - screen included. My Last car, had it on the glass, where the Skoda badge is, something like "min 70%" which is the legal limit... the Skoda does not appear to have it on the glass, but i'm sure my Old's Kia Sportage will have it on... will take a pic later :)

Agree most modern cars come with a tinted screen, but bottom line is that it is illigal to apply an aftermarket tint to a screen with the exception of a sun shade band which can only cnme so far down the screen. So if your car comes with non-tinted screen, you can't go out and have it tinted. The only legal way round that is if you do what I did with my old Toyota Avensis that had a non-tinted screen; when it got chipped, I had the screen replaced with a tinted one that was a standard fitment on the higher spec Toyota Avensis. I then had the rest of the windows tinted to match.

I think it is to do with the fact the windscreen is laminated on all modern cars and many still have the toughend glass on the rest of the windows. That is why all my cars have security film on, i live in a safe area but the film also prevents the car interior being showerd in glass in the case of an accident.

Lovely car, wish that seat colour was an option for the Fabia, looks great with the two tone interior!

Mind the alloys though - we had the same ones on Sharon and they were very very easy to damaged and because they are a chrome type finish they show up even the smallest scuff!

Best looking Superb Combi i've seen yet. Congrats!

Nice, very nice, but you will eventually get pulled with Mr. Plod and his light meter.

My mate got fine and points in West Yorkshire.

my boss bought a MINI s cooper works blah blah blah thing i know it was 30k second had !

that had front tints on the side widows done by BMW he go pulled and fined which he passed to BMW for payment along with the removal of the tints !

Why? It is unusual, isnt it?

Nice one

A set of mudflaps would round it off to a tee.

It's most likely a PDI thing to test the buckles work as they should.

I found that mud flaps are an essential (and cheap) addition.

You'll see the sense in it after a few drives on wet, salty and muddy roads.

Only just got it so not finnished yet, still got a few things to add, just received the front grill kit from Super Skoda and will get the mud flaps soon.

Went away for the weekend and so far quite impressed by it, did just over 350 miles 4 up went very well and the friends that came with us couldnt get over the space in the back.

The only slight down side, Ithink the cars slightly narrow for its sizeespecialy in the boot, the Jaguar was about 3" wider. I carry a roll out banner/screen all the time for work and thought I would have to remove on of the side storage flaps but luckily it just went in with about 1/2" to spare width wise.

Congratulations on a fab new car!

I would like to ask you if the extended rear windscreen spoiler does much in keeping the rear of the car more mud/dirt free? I find the original standard spoiler not that usefull in diverting dirt etc so that the car is always covered in dirt when the roads are wet or covered in snow. We have the rear mudflaps btw.

Thanks!

The rear spoiler wasn't quite what I was expecting as I have had a proper spoiler on several estates before (Chevolet Townsman, Pontiac Lemans and a Fiat) where

the spoiler directed airflow down the rear screen which worked wonders for keeping the rear screen clean. I thought looking at the (very poor) pictures it would do the same but it doesnt, still looks good though!
