If I'm reading this right then any newer yetis with the above panel missing could simply add it if required? Ie all of the mounting points are still in place?

Hi Focus,

yes I suspect this is the case, however customers are still being charged the same price as before for the RRP :S Plus you are now going to have to purchase and fit this separately, if you wish to bring the protection up to the previous standard. :wonder:

Thanks TP. Im getting quite surprised by the level of cost cutting that appears to be creeping in to the yeti at present. :S metal bits changed for plastic bits, bits removed all together, interior trim pieces now absent and actual under the skin engineering changes. If vw genuinely think this is the way to get skoda buyers to 'upgrade' to the VW brand then I think they are making a huge mistake. Rant over! :(

Yes beginning to wonder if my new Monster would not be better designated a Yeti II :giggle: as it's an entirely different beast to the Pat Monster :o

So far noted the following differences since start of production;

TDI CR engine changed (140 & 170)

Front suspension changed

Rear brakes changed (140, 170 and 160 petrol)

New exhaust (and toolkit), 1.2TSI

Boot sides, carpet finish deleted

RRP, engine shield steel to thermoplastic

RRP, fuel brake pipe additional protection panels deleted

RRP, door foils now standard (good thing  )

Oh yes roof aerial

What else I wonder that we cannot see :wonder:

Just an update!

As some of you will know I've been struggling to get SUK to accept that the rear door protective foils were part of the RRPack when I ordered on August 9 - having been told last week by Will Fisher that "they were never advertised as being part of the Pack"

Well today a bit of progress - in a response from yet another 'Case Manager' Dan Latta - responding on behalf of Robert Hazelwood and in Will Fisher's further absence "I can confirm that the protective foils in question form part of the Rough Road Package that you opted for when you ordered your Yeti. As you are aware, we recently took the decision to make the protective foils a standard feature on the car. The specification of our vehicles does change periodically and we consider this to be an enhancement, but would not look to reduce the price of the Rough Road Pack accordingly for delivered cars, existing orders or in future price lists."

Well a moral victory - even if they now consider me paying extra to get something which is now standard as an 'enhancement' equitable, just beggars belief

I'm throwing the towel in on this one now I've wasted enough of my twilight years enlightening this shower of muppets; my car is arriving tomorrow at my long suffering dealers after 23 weeks and I hope to be fully mobile by the end of next week - yipee!

I know there are several others affected like me - good luck! My head hurts after banging it against SUK's stonewall :D

I've just tried to vote in the poll but the 'system' is telling me that I have to answer both questions; except that from the questions I should only answer one?. :S

However; Just a few thoughts .....

Kevin is brand new i.e. post August 2010 and has the one piece panel with the corrugated triangular section.

It seems (from reading the posts) the earlier Yeti have the screw-on triangular, non-corrugated, section that is being thought of as being additional reinforcement, but I can't see any mention that anyone has taken this off to see what is underneath; whether it is flat or triangular. Has this been done and I've missed the comment?

If the panel were to be flat then I'd suggest that there has been a design change to a one piece item (logical) that was no doubt made at the same time as the switch from steel to plastic sump guard.

If the panel is (also) triangular then the additional screw-on bit may perhaps be thought of as additional reinforcement that, it might be argued, is missing from later models. However, in the redesign I would have thought that the triangular section would have been made strong enough to work on its own.

Been promised a response TODAY detailing the RRP changes by SUK - won't be holding my breath though.....

Must have missed this along the way, is the end pipe still a twin affair and how's the toolkit changed ?

Your elucidation would be much appreciated.

Your elucidation would be much appreciated.

Single pipe on 1.2TSI (and 1.4TSI?) but twin pipes on CR140/170.

Not sure about 1.8TSI or CR 110.

No idea about tool kit.

Thanks, my 1.4TSi Octy has twin pipes, wonder if that has now changed?

Hi,

as far as I'm aware the exhaust change only effects the 1.2TSI; came into effect on the 31/05/10. Front, centre and rear box are all different to the original spec.

Front box both new and old have a Jetta Mk 5 (1K) part no. the rest Yeti (5L).

To view the new tool kit see My link

Many thanks for your info.

Response from SUK - still awaiting info from Skoda CZ - they've asked for an urgent response.

Managed to get a look at the parts list for the VAG group; the additional stone guards fitted to the rear of the floor-pan covers on my previous Monster are not shown on any Yeti diagrams. However they are on the Octavia and Golf. Further noticed that the specification for the floor-pan covers and door foils (new part no’s) changed at the same time as the introduction of the new plastic sump guard.

Under-body trim LH = 1K0 825 201 AC >> 01.08.2010

Under-body trim RH = 1K0 825 201 BF >> 01.08.2010

Under-body trim LH = 1K0 825 201 AD 02.08.2010 >>

Under-body trim RH = 1K0 825 201 BH 02.08.2010 >>

The original LH panel strangely is not used on the Golf, although it is used on the Octavia II, Golf Plus, Sirocco and Audi A3; whereas the original RH panel appears to have much wider use including Golf.

The new floor-pan panel introduced in August appear to be used solely by the Yeti at this time, following a brand wide part number search. What difference there is between them I’ve no idea; visually they appear the same.

Have identified the original steel sump guard as being a Golf V (1K) component, the new plastic arrangement is Golf VI (5K). Also of interest is the lack of any identifiable fuel and brake line protection for a rough road specification in the fuel or brakes sections.

The stone guard covers fitted to my previous Monster have the following part no’s (but obviously no longer used);

Stone chip guard LH = 1K0 825 001B

Stone chip guard RH = 1K0 825 002B

Hex panel bolt 5x16 = N 103 546 02

Speed nut = N 909 591 01

The door foil numbers old and new are;

Protective foil LH = 5L0 807 905 B >> 01.08.2010

Protective foil RH = 5L0 807 906 B >> 01.08.2010

Protective foil LH = 5L0 807 905 C 02.08.2010 >>

Protective foil RH = 5L0 807 906 C 02.08.2010 >>

So does this mean that the monsters never came with additional protection to the fuel/brake lines?

Hi Mike,

still cross checking between models; VW parts lists appear superior in detail to Skoda but on the evidence so far then no not by identifiable differing part numbers anyway :(

e.g. brake cable guides only one part number listed; would expect to see a second for a strengthened component but there's not.

Sorry, yes that is what I meant by the RRP being wrong. Again.

Is it any wonder SUK can't/haven't/won't detail the changes - the more I learn - the more the RRP looks like a £200 set of 'The Emperor's Clothes'

Well from searches so far your 200 notes gets you this (current spec);

Additional parts to rear wishbones

Stone chip guard LH = 1K0 511 533 D

Stone chip guard RH = 1K0 511 534 D

Hex bolt M6x12 = N 905 298 03 (Qty 2)

Riveted cap nut M6/0,5-3 = N 909 203 01 (Qty 2)

Spreader rivet 8mm = 8E0 825 267 (Qty 2)

Engine skid plate

Skid plate petrol engine = 5K0 825 901

Skid plate diesel engine = 5K0 825 902

Damping diesel engine = 5K0 825 225

Bracket mount LH = 5K0 825 921

Bracket mount RH = 5K0 825 922 or 5K0 825 922 A or 5K0 825 922 B (depending on model)

Socket head bolt with inner multipoint head M8x18 = N 701 170 01 (Qty 4)

Socket head bolt with inner multipoint head M10x30 = N 910 758 01 (Qty 3)

Riveted cap nut M10= N 904 480 04 (Qty 3)

Hex nut shouldered M8 = N 907 611 03 (Qty 1)

Hex panel bolt 5x16 = N 909 747 01 (Qty 8)

Hex collared bolt M12x1,5x80 = N 909 747 01 (Qty 2)

Which replaces

Noise insulation petrol engine = 1K0 825 235 AB

Noise insulation diesel engine DSG & 4x4= 1K0 825 235 AD

Noise insulation diesel engine = 1K0 825 235 AG >> 01.08.10

Noise insulation diesel engine = 5C 825 237 02.08.10 >>

Associated bolts for above

Hex panel bolt 5x16 = N 909 747 01 (Qty 8)

Hex socket head bolt M6x20 = 1K0 825 951 (Qty 8)

Can't fault SUK's business logic; increase price but make standard door foils x2 (to fix know issue of chipping) and delete stone guard panels x2 plus associated fixings, on the grounds that the floor panel covers have changed part numbers   :S

The RRP guide in the tech section now reflects the latest info I have RRP

PS Edit: I wonder if Skoda UK will confirm this emoticon-0136-giggle.gif. I too am waiting for a confirmation email about what is actually fitted.

The stone guard covers fitted to my previous Monster have the following part no’s (but obviously no longer used);

Stone chip guard LH = 1K0 825 001B

Stone chip guard RH = 1K0 825 002B

Speed nut = N 909 591 01

By 'Stone Guards' do you mean the part that wraps around the rear suspension lower wishbone and brake calliper or the 'triangular bit' on the rear of the centre (floorpan) area?

If its the rear suspension lower wishbone protector then it is still being fitted; I have these on Kevin.

Thanks,

it's the panel that fits over the triangular section at the rear of the floor-pan that's been deleted. Both these panels and those on the wishbones are described as stone chip guards or stone guards in the parts 'book'.
