TDI140 faster than a Abarth Fiat?

Featured Replies

Just been searching for Yeti weight distribution to see why the 1.2 is poorer than the diesel and came across this: http://www.fastestlaps.com/track24.html

Apparently all came from "trusted source". According to the site the TDI140 Yeti could do it in 1:51:80

This is the same as a:

VX Astra 2.0T

Abarth Fiat Grande Punto

and faster than:

A6 2.7 TDI

A3 1.8 TFSI

Superb 3.6

BMW 320SI (special edition - tuned engine - 170ps I think)

Merc E350

etc.

and only a little slower than:

Lexus LS600h

A8 3.0

To say the least I am a little sceptical about the site, not only should a BMW 320SI be faster than an A8 3.0, but how could an A3 cabriolet (2.0T) be faster than a Jaguar XJR??

Interesting, thanks. I spose it's impossible that these could have all be driven under the same track conditions, by the same driver, performing at their best etc etc. Such variations will surely affect results somewhat more than somewhat...

They can't have been trying very hardemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I am surprised that the Yeti 140 saw off so many saloon cars and came close to some of the so called hot hatches such as the Honda R.

The site is bo**llcks- only way it makes sense is different drivers of mixed ability and also different conditions!

If we all wait a couple of week EVO have promised to get their long term Yeti 1.8TSI around their Bedford Autodrome test track for the next issue.

This should provide a fair assessment, as it will be one of their regular driver, who will be familiar with the track etc.

It wont be a fair assessment as it will be running trackday sticky tyres I think. And who cares how fast a soft roader goes around a race track anyway- it's like evaluating my Caterham in the snow !

it's like evaluating my Caterham in the snow !

I suspect that will be much more fun!!
