Heated Windscreen Option Code

Featured Replies

As I am still waiting for my Superb to be delivered, maybe foolishly, I decided to use one of the Internet VIN decoders (http://vagauto.com/) to check my car details.

Everything looks ok, includes the spare wheel, heated washer jets and even the MDI option which I added after placing the order. The only thing that looks odd is the heated windscreen is not mentioned and the windscreen glass type is reported as:

Windshield glass type 4GT Heat-insulating glass windshield

Bit of a long-shot but does anybody know what the option code of the heated windscreen is?

Putting this into perspective:

  1. I am sure that the VIN decoder isn't 100% accurate.
  2. The dealer hasn't advised us that the car has been delivered without the heated windscreen.
  3. The value of the options on our non-itemised invoice seems to include the £230 heated windscreen option.

However in the worst case scenario that this has not been specified as part of the factory build can a heated windsceen be retrofitted by the dealer?

Best regards

I have just done a VIN check using your link, it matches exactly my VIN check using VIN.SU. As these firms have access to full VIN details supplied by the factory they should be correct, the only thing to query is the code you have for the windscreen.

My Superb Combi Elegance is the standard windscreen and is listed as

4GF Windshield in heat-insulating glass so you may have a heated windscreen.

Thanks for going to the trouble of checking your VIN code out. The fact that the option code for your standard screen differs to mine (4GF instead of 4GT) is good enough for me.

I wasn't expecting Rainworth Skoda to have 'cocked up', their service has been fantastic despite the lead-time being so long.

Roll on Wednesday; it has been a long six months. :)

If anyone is interested in what level of detail you get with these VIN decoding services I have posted my report on Google Docs (no login required):

https://docs.google.com/a/cookclan.me.uk/leaf?id=0B3Bvl029Jq9SNGYwYjIzYzgtZjkzNi00OWY2LWI1ODAtODA3NTRkNjQ5NzIx&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

I can't see anything particularly 'sensitive' in the content other than the VIN code which has been obfuscated.

Best regards

David
