snow foam

Featured Replies

After catching the detailing bug a while back i have at last managed to buy a decent (or at least i hope!!) snow foam do-dar like this http://shop.autobritedirect.co.uk/foam-lance-by-autobrite-various-connections-305-p.asp

what i want to know is do you just follow the instructions .. so about an inch to two inches of snow foam topped with water then spray away or any other tricks? also whats the best with the adjustment have more water more foam or have it somewhere in the middle??

Have come from using this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_217894_langId_-1_categoryId_165569

so i am hoping i will get better results .... just need the cold weather to ease a bit now so i can test it out and not make the road outside my house into an ice rink!

All of the above entirely depends on what you want to achieve out of the 'wash'.................

I personally only use my snow foam lance when detailing to cut all the current protection, etc off the car, therefore I just use neat snow foam and APC inside the bottle, if your just looking to give the car a covering and try to keep your protection on there then you will need to mix the snow foam with water...................

It's a it of a 'toy' in my opinion the Snow Foam lance but it does serve a purpose, for me you want to get a good mixture of snow foam and water to break down what's on the paintwork if it's just a regular wash........... :p

I'd probably agree with the Bakers "toy" comment. It just looks good. :)

I tested my jet wash and lance and found when on full it gives about a 10:1 ration of water from the tape and liquid taken from the bottle. So from that I can work out what I need from the products requirments. Normally I just add undiluted solution to the snow foam bottle. That bottle will last me a good few washes as I only use enough to cover the car.

I also use the lance to apply a thicker measure of detergent without the snow foam additive. It makes the wash a little quicker as I can spary on a thick layer of detergent once the car is basically clean and use a mit and clean bucket to finish it off fully.

I've found it does help lift some of the dirt off before you use a mitt, so you've less chance of scratching your paintwork. I did read someone say they could use snow foam for a contactless wash, but IMHO that's rubbish - mine definitely needs a wash with a mitt and the 2 bucket method afterwards.

Agree with you there mate...............

I was a snow foam virgin until I joined this forum and then visited Autobrite as its only a few miles from where I live.

The guys were very helpful and know there stuff but like everything you gotta try before you feel youve got the best cleaning/polishing/waxing detailing gear for your motor.

The polishing/claybar/waxing stuff I initailly bought turned out to be ok but it wasnt until I read the many posts regarding car care that I realised its a bit of a science and there is a lot more to it than

throwing loads of money at it thinking your going to get the best result! If you want a laugh(my bro in law is still laughing 6 months on) like a tw&t I asked for some 2BM (At Autobrite)as loads of people were using it?!!

Never lived that one down but do use 2 bucket method as it deffinitley makes a difference!

Use the Snow foam gun and Pink Mix on a regular basis and it certainly helps keeping the motor looking tip top! Dont half get a lot of strange looks when its on the drive looking like a baked alaska!

Snow foam puts a smile on mine and my 2 year old's face, so it's nearly worth it for that alone
