Pimp my Maglite

Featured Replies

I've got a trusty old 3 cell Maglite that I've had for years, and I was thinking about replacing it with an LED model -I have a super duper 8W LED torch that I brought in from China via Ebay, but it uses camera batteries that cost a fortune.

Then I did an Ebay search, and found an LED module that replaces the bulb. Easy to fit, lower power consumption and 1W light output. Cost £16, but saved me ditching the old one. Excellent.

And it's F****ing bright, too!

care to post a link?

Does it throw out as much light? I always find that LED's are blinding to look at, but don't actually give off as much light as a standard bulb.

I have one in my mini maglight, although the beam looses it's distance it is far brighter, so it all depends on what you use it for, close up or distance.

SWMBO has just bought me a maglight, Bloody fantastic.

Now for a serious question, how long should I leave it before pimping it? I mean if I start canabalising a new pressie the day I get it, would I really be sleeping in the car, in sub zero temps?

Possibly.

But you could always claim that you're saving the planet by using less batteries..........
