Red Skoda Octavia VRS was a leasing car, anything to look for?

Have you a link to the car? or what garage is selling it?

A lease car is not always a bad car, can you ask to see the service book and see which dealer has serviced it, then maybe phone the dealer to ask if there are any known issues with it.

They should be able to tell you with out giving any personal details of the previous owner, so no conflict of privercy codes.

You can see it on Auto trader just search for Skoda Octavia VRS and select the red colour. You can't miss it as it's the only red one for sale in that price range. I've put a deposit down for it so car is already taken. :)

Nice car and selling at a good price. Has it definitely got Xenon's though as I see there are no headlight washers?

Definitely not factory-fit Xenons if no washers...

I know their is no way of knowing true history. But its that notion in the brain im stuck with..

Seeing as lease cars are not "owned" by a person.

They are more likly to be abused, rather then lovingly cared for.. If i got an ex leaser .. id be constatly thinking about it

Dont get me wrong.. Im sure the cars fine. and some people out their do look after the cars they lease.. its just from what ive seen my self

I know several people who lease cars and they always treat them as if they owned the car. If it looks to be in good condition then I wouldn't worry about it.

I think your correct to think this as I used to have company cars and the accelerator and brakes only had two positions.

Used to get through tyres in 6000 miles, once I got my own cars this was more like 12 - 15k

All the other lads used to thrash the crap out of there company cars, my Honda Civic was forever having pads all round, it had 2 clutches in 60k and been a vtec was thrashed every gear change.

VRS-R,

That's a lovely example of a vRS.

Stop worrying about it's previous owner, from what you've told us together with the advert it's clearly the right car for you.

Get that loan sorted and welcome the world of Skoda, I'm confident you won't regret it!

Thanks silver1011 :) I know it is a very nice car and if you saw it for real it looks even better! B) I'm going to fax the details required for the loan tommorrow, so fingers crossed I get the loan. I have to have that VRS!

Too be honest I might have got carried away about those Xenons :giggle: Would be nice if it has them though B) If it didn't have them are they easy to install?

Judging by the mileage the car was not a heavily used company car. Looks like a great deal. I paid £3k more for a vRS of the same age but with 25k miles.

I'd not overly worry if it does not have xenon lights, I don't see a huge difference between the xenon's on my current vRS and the standard lights of my older model it replaced. At times I could swear they are worse.

I'm not sure to be honest but it wouldn't put me off buying it! The car is imaculate and looks very cool B) If I get my loan sorted out and buy it I would like to go to a Skoda meet sometime next summer. B)

No, i'm not that worried about the Xenons either. I bought some Ice Blue head lights bulbs for my Honda 3 years ago, they produce 60% brighter light than standard. The difference was a lot compared to standard bulbs and they only cost me £20! I'm going to do the same with the Skoda when I get it but put Xtreme white bulbs in for £25 from Halfords B)

i paid that much for an 06 plate with 32k miles just last week

mine had 2 previous owners, so presumably not a lease car (and the f.s.h stamps show about 8-9k miles a year), so that looks like a nice deal

Thanks mate! I checked the log book and service shedules and it's all in order. Now all I need to do is buy it! :D

The good thing with the Octavia is that they have projector headlights, stick some xenon effect bulbs in there and only those with a keen eye (spotting the lack of the headlight wash system) will ever notice they are not xenons!

I don't think you will go far wrong with it,

I regularly used to stop and have a look at there cars and have a chat with the guys in there as i used to deliver to Batemans NT just round the corner on a weekly bases.

Always seem to have a very nice selection of cars that are always well presented.

My roomster was a lease car, only for it's 1st 6months and it's never missed a beat.

Enjoy it and don't worry about it

Have stopped by a couple of times, when doing my weekly delivery to Batemans NT just down the road.

I live in Cliffe Woods near Rochester, but my delivery area used to take in all of Kent.

Rochester isn't that near Maidstone? If it is, that's quite far from Burwash in East Sussex. Nice to hear someone else has being there though. I wasn't sure where it was at first as you have to drive down this endless track that really is only suitable for tractors! Also, it's quite weird that the cars are next to a farm? Still the VRS is going to be mine! as I've put a deposit on it and only need to sort the money out to get it. I can't wait to drive it for a long journey home! B):D:thumbup:

The leasing company is in Basildon called Two Me Leasing? I have tried to search for it online with no luck in finding it :wonder:

Toomey Leasing? They're quite a large leasing company...

If it's been a long-term lease it's likely to have had an easier life than if it had been to a rental firm, but as per the other thread I still wouldn't want to be financing one over 5 years - especially as it's already 3 years old...you're going to be making repayments until the car's 8 years old, so if it becomes "uneconomically-viable" to repair during that time (which is quite possible) your options for offloading it may be limited by the presence of outstanding finance.

Looks like a tidy example though.

I don't think there is anything wrong at all. I just wanted to hear other people's opinions on whether it's safe to have a car that has been leased. I don't know much about leasing so for me all this is very new to me. The salesman did say the car had only being leased to one person as a company car for 3 years.

The reason why the previous owner gave the car back was because he had finished the contract, and bought another brand new one. In my previous post I made the mistake in thinking the car was a rental car which would have being driven by an unknown amount of different people.

Believe or not some lease car users could actually be kind to their carsemoticon-0148-yes.gif

They might get it serviced on time, drive it as though its not stolen and clean itemoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

On the other hand I would still well clear of a rental car, some users will have no mechanical sympathy at all

I had a company car for 18 months and 75000 miles from new and then bought it from the company
