Front wipers stopped working

Featured Replies

Drove my son to school this morning, cleared the front windscreen of snow and all around the wiper arms. Wiped the windscreen once to clear them of anti-freeze and off I went. When I got back into the car to drive home the front wipers dont work anymore :( Has anyone got a suggestion as to why not? It's -8c, dont know if that has anything to do with it. Back one works fine.

Check the fuse.

Just a quickie to save me looking for the manual or searching on here, where is the fuse panel in the car?

On the side of the dashboard/fascia. You will need to open the drivers door, then you can use your car key (or suitable screwdriver) in the visible slot and prise open the fuse box panel, it should just pop off and pop back on...

Sorted the wipers, yep it was just a fuse *sigh of relief*

Tried my washer jets but theyre frozen solid, however I cant hear the pump :(

  • 3 weeks later...

Could someone help me please? My front wipers suddenly topped working yesterday too. Having googled the problem I went out and bought some fuses and even managed to locate where they are in the car, but when I checked the fuse number (41) given in the manual it seems to be ok. Any ideas?

Can you tell me which fuse needed to be replaced?

Sorted! Thank you so much. I am a female who is quite independent but when it comes to cars going wrong I panic and usually go straight to a garage - very expensive! But because of this site and your comments not only has it saved me some money I have learnt something too and feel quite good about myself! :)

Mine's the same, wipers working but washer pump silent and no fluid. Did you get yours sorted? I don't think screen wash frozen now. Any ideas?

Get someone to look under the bonnet as you try and use the washer (being stationary will help), looking behind the engine to the passenger side, see if water is spraying out.

Thanks for this.

Just replaced the fuse and wipers and washer working fine. Lets hope the washer bottle doesn't freeze again!
