Front Wipers

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, as above......

Just came from visiting a few friends, returned to my 2006 Fabia vRS to discover the front wipers won't work at all. The rear wiper is working as normal.

I have also noticed when I try for screenwash the back wiper comes on too, but no water comes out(the water is full but frozen cause of the -6 temp) and I don't even hear the noise from the jets when I try for screenwash(the noise ya would hear better when the water is empty).

Any ideas/help would be great.....

Thanks in advance

Kev

I have the same issue this morning. Front Wipers stopped working while driving to work.

Back wiper Works OK

When I use jet wash for front the back wipers come on

Anyone have a solution?

I had exactly the same symptoms on mine last weekend, and it was fuse number 15. If that's what it is in yours, it's a nice easy cheap fix :)

Thank you gents, will attempt the fix at lunch! :-)

Swap it with Fuse 13, as the fuse is the same rating and reversing lights aren't a legal requirement (just take care when going backwards until you've fixed it properly!)

You may struggle to find any in Halfords this time of year, BTW...

All fixed for 50p. Fuse it was, position 15. Thanks all for the help.

I wish I had patented the FUSE 15 fix

Cheers people, I'll give this a go when the weather improves here in N.Ireland, currently snowed in at the minute so I'm going nowhere!! -5 at 2:10pm!!

had this issue myself at the weekend and fuse 15 10amp is the correct repair :D

I assume I'd have to wait for temperature to back some somewhat normal? or the problem happens again??

If you try to use the wipers whilst it's frozen solid the fuse will blow, so make sure your fully defrosted before using them and the fuse won't blow.

Dealer sold me the car without enough washer fluid to prevent it freezing! Grrrrrr.................

Many thanks for this - just had the same thing myself and thought it was looking like I needed a new wiper stalk. Very pleased to discover it's just the squirt fuse :)

Wonder how many Fabias are running around at any given time in winter with no wipers? :giggle:

Had the same problem this morning all it was is the fuse

just had exactly the same problem haha, fuse 15 it was!

I've sorted the problem twice in one day with the fuse 15!! I've stocked up on some as I suspect in the morning after a -12 here in N.Ireland I will be needing yet another fuse!!!

Need to pick some up myself. Just had to swap it with 13.

Just changed fuse 15 for a customer..

"Does the rear wiper wipe when you try and wash the front?"

"Yes"

"Fuse 15 it is then!" :)

I have another possible problem, I've finally got the wipers working but there is not even a noise coming from the water pump(like a 'humming' noise you would hear when empty) I have checked all the fuses that I can. Am I needing a new motor to pump the water? I'm running on what most people have in the washer bottle(blue concentrate from Halfords!)
