Stopping door seals from freezing

Featured Replies

What would you recommend for stopping door seals from freezing to the bodywork?

I'm guessing rubbing them with a thin layer of something like WD40 or 303 Aerospace protectant would work?

The manual states you should use a "rubber care product (e.g. silicone spray)" so I would go with that.

Does Vaseline work as I hear it doesn't freeze as well?

Personally have never used it on rubber seals as I thought the petroleum content can damage rubber :wonder:

Thanks guys

I'll give the 303 aerospace protectant a try, then move on to something silicone based. I don't have any silicone stuff to hand as I hate the residue it leaves in normal use.

Now I have a different problem! Had to clear the wheel arches which were solidly blocked with slush before I went in, otherwise I might not be able to move off in the morning. There was literally no gap between the tyre and arch. My poor Octy really needs a good clean and some tlc. If I had only realised how much a decent size garage was a necessity in Scotland before I bought my house
