Towbar

Featured Replies

Good afternoon.

Hope this hasn't been asked to much before. I am wanting to put a towbar on my car to tow my mate to track days and such.

Just wondering which is the best one to buy? Because I don't want to be cutting loads of my bumper. Preferably want one with the towball that can be removed.

Thanks Adam.

Hi

What type of car is it going on? And what do you intend to tow? If it's a Fabia then you'll be lucky to tow another car safely on a trailer.

I'm not sure if it's the same on all models, but the Skoda option on the Superb is a Westfalia removable towbar IIRC.

I might be wrong but I don't think the Fabia allows you to tow anything at all.

Yeah it's a fabia vRS pal. Wanting to tow my mates civic type r to the track. Why wouldnt it be safe?

Cheers

You can only tow up to the maximum authorised weight as listed by the manufacturer. The Fabia doesn't have anything listed meaning you can't tow anything (infact there's nothing on there for unbraked trailer either, so you can't even tow up to 750kg).

The other thing is that if you passed your driving test after Jan 1st 1997, you can't tow a trailer heavier than 750kg without taking another test (B+E).

What am absolute crock of poo. haha! Asif the vRS was never rated to tow. Ahhh well that's that plan out of the window. Thanks peps.

its annoying to say the least wanted to put one on my years ago but came up with the same answer.

Though I've seem towbar's fitted to fabia vRS so it is physically possible but where you stand on the law in an event of an accident would probably not be worth the risk.
