Featured Replies

im due for 2 new tyres on the vrs

Currently running 4x Michi's PS3's .

Anyone gone from these to the Virdestine Ultra Sessanta? worth the swap.. what they like when wet/ snow conditions arrise?

2nd set should be a few k behind being swapped over

Can really aford to get a full winter setup on steels as well as replace these later on..

Furrymuff if i can get the job lot for 250 id go that route, but i cant :(

I replaced my Conti SC3's with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos and think they are the muts nuts, much better grip in all conditions and I paid £91 a corner from my local dealer

My Falken 452's arnt bad in the snow, been quite surprised by them. Got some winter wheels to go on as I've got a few miles to do.

Sorry guys.. I know you have good intentions of giving other rubber tests. But at the mo im just interested in the ones above

Ive had falkens on the cupra and ran the ring with them.. they where cheap and good value for coin.. gripped well.. couldnt grumble.

rainsport 2's all round and it's been awesome in snow

Hi

I fitted 4 vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my VRS 6 weeks ago replacing the Factory Dunlop gt sport maxx. I have found them 2 be very good ok in the snow & £85 a corner fitted.

My mind is starting to stray from the 2 sets..

Any recommendations / comparisons welcome from

P3's to .... ONLY

Thank you

Why do you want to deviate from the PS3s?

140 per corner with xmas coming up :(

Just looking at other alternatives / swaps.. to help widen the search thats all.. if i cant make up my mind. ill have to rape the c-card, .. possibly from costco... on a deal

This is the first set of rubber ive had on the car so having a good look in to whats best for the vrs.. ive read rubbish reviews about the dunlops which apparently were factory fitted (unless ive miss read)

I swapped mine around when i was in a similar position, that way they wear out at the same time and you change all 4 together.

I know some prefer to change only 2 at a time but i've always wanted to change a full set - especially if i'm moving brands/ types.

I have contisportcontact3s on now - they seem fine. They have recently won an EVO tyre test plus they are cheaper than michelins (but admittedly not as cheap as vreds).

hth.

costco deal was last month so going to be well into next year before the next. I've had MIchelin Pilot Exaltos and the Vreds on mine. I've been very impressed with the Vreds.

I've not had Michelins on my vRS, but had them on both the Saabs i had before getting the vRS (which came with some Dunlops that I will never ever even consider buying) and like them a lot. Have the Vreds on the front of my vRS and would have said that in the dry they are just as good and in the wet they are almost as good as the Michelins

They will need replacing soon, but reckon they'll have done about 18000 miles before being replaced, whereas I used to get 25-27K out of the Michelins. Costwise, that means they're about the same, just the Vreds will be replaced more often...

If you can get hold of a set then I'd say go for it.

DAM IT!!

I cant say miles given on my rubber as the car came to me to be the2nd owner (Car and tyres) but ive had 4k ish out of them

I try to keep the wear even as well. swapping back to front, but with weather being as it is. The ones with most meat will go to the back (or remain at back) and replace the lower ones, then next month swap the others.. i have afew k before the maker is reached all around. So their is no massive rush for them.. (well last check 800mile ago), Need to recheck tonight when i get back

Dont like them getting to low

  • 2 weeks later...

I have Yokohama S306's. They're OK in the dry, slip too much in the wet and are a f***ing nightmare in snow.

I'm going to get new ones this week (Probably Uniroyal Rainsport 2's) and won't be buying Yokos again.

EDIT- Got Conti Sport 3's. Not perfect in the snow- they're not snow tyres after all- but they're better.
