hello once again guys..need some help..i'm about to change the gearbox oil for my octavia,what would be the best oil specification and brand name?thanks a lot guys take care..

Oh and get a 17mm hex drive thingy to get the plugs out.

and check you can get the filler plug out before you actually drain the box.....

many many horror stories on vag transmissions of people throwin in gl4 or gl5 and it wrecking the syncros

Redline MT90 & Castrol SMX-S are both an improvement over standard. Excellent oils! The SMX-S can be had from Halfords- used it many-a-time.

So I take it the GL5 sold at GSF is a No No then??? It's 'Carlube' stuff...

i wouldn't - go to a vag dealer (vw and audi will sell the stuff) and ask for 2l of GO60 726 A2 (total cost £12), it comes in 1 litre bottles and to drain and fill takes 1.8 - 1.9 litres
