radiator fans on all the time

Featured Replies

Hi, has anyone any idea of what is causing this problem?

I have had the radiator fan switch changed due to the fact that the fans were on all the time and draining the battery. However despite this the problem remains.

Is there antoher sensor/switcc that could be causing this?

Paul

Er, the fans aren't on a permanent live.

They do run all the time the engine does if you have the Climatronic in Auto, Demist or Manual mode. If you just want them off, set Econ mode. OTOH that won't drain the battery, if the alternator's charging correctly (voltmeter should show about 14.3v across the battery with the engine idling, lights and HRW off).

Thnaks for your reply, my fans do seem to be on a permanent live, if I pull the fuse they stop.

Virtually everything in the car is fused, so that isn't conclusive. Are you saying that if you lock your car and return say a couple of hours later the fans are still running (assuming the battery isn't flat)?
