ideas for an ice install

Featured Replies

Right here we go.... Im looking a getting this head unit alpine ixa w404r its double din unit im happy with that choice, what i dont know about is what speakers shall i get?

My ideas so for are the new type r alpine components 120 ish (is it worth amping these if so do i need a 2 or 4 way?

Im lost for what to do for the rear, i want to update all of the speakers, but im not sure if its worth doing the tweaters (in the front and rear)?

Im keen to stick to alpine, has anyone got a better idea or, a what i would do suggestion, im not loaded, but by no means do i want to put crap into the car, i would like a noticeable difference in quality with the sound in my car.

Spend the money on the front speakers and move the fader to full front. Rear speakers are a waste of money and pull the soundstage back. When you're at a concert you sit with the stage in front of you - the best ICE systems try to recreate that.

sounds like a good plan cheers!

its been a few years since i was into big systems [boot is full of pushchairs nowadays] emoticon-0136-giggle.gif but as mentioned concentrate on decent fronts and just use something reasonable for rear 'fill' emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Do I need to order shallow depth front speakers, because of the door card? I thought heard that you needed to be careful about how deep the speakers are? Would help loads if someone could answer this question for me.

not really i fitted some alpine type s components in the front doors they fitted peace of pee, but remember to order golf mk4 front door adapters and the ones listed for the fabia are mostly wrong, i found this out the hard way lol

im running alpines all round with some 13cm components in the back parcel shelf for fill, never seen the point of amping the speakers separately as they always seem good to me off a decent headunit turn the bass down and mine will go all the way up with not much distortion
