No dont get it, it'll overfuel your car and give a smog screen to all who are behind you. Go for a custom remap the next time Briskoda is offering one,

If you're going the tuning box route, you're better off getting a 30 quid Dragon tuning box off eBay which will buy you similar gains, but for a lot less :D Car will be a little bit smokier, but no smokier than a remap (which basically overfuels like the tuning box!) :D

Chris,

I have asked this before, maybe even to yourself, but where have you got

Not sitting on my high horse here but I can understand on a TDi why people would use a tuning box, because its a good all round gain on an economical car, I know the vRS too only pumps out 30 more horses but for me, I would like to get the best possible out of mine for the cheapest and no im not doing any long term damage (other than clutch), and I dont rate tuning boxes that highly. Although the Dragon unit is very good I have to admit.

If the car is re-map'd properly there should be no more smoke than on a standard car. As the boost is raised to burn off the extra fuel thats injected.

Dragon do a few different types.

For the 90/110 TDi they do the adjustable box that connects into the 8 or 10 pin connector and either has a local or remote adjuster. They do a standard one or a TUV one that needs MAF connection. These are usually over

How do you know you're not doing any long term damage?! ;)

I'll have to take your word for that, the remapped cars I've seen smoke more than standard ones I've followed, and even more than mine with a tuning box! :D

Depends who has map'd them and the power increase

I got mine for

Mine was done by jabba, nice job but it does smoke rather a lot!

Perhaps because theres not enough airflow? Do you have a cupra air-duct?

there should be minimal smoke, on a standard re-map. the increase in fueling should be matched by an increase in boost.
