Hi All, Just picked up my first ever vRS today. It's an 05 plate Mk1 with 42k on the clock. I've only driven it back from the garage and love it already!!!! I noticed that the Symphony head unit works but shows nothing on the display. I've phoned the garage and it's going back next week. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy fix? Also, the 12v socket on the dash does'nt work... Any ideas? Apart from these two minor issues the car is spot on!!!!

the fag lighter is by the handbrake unless someones put an aftermarket one in?

For the 12v socket, I'd check the fuse first. The radio . . . dunno, but might be a good excuse for an upgrade.

As slvrs stated the fag lighter ain't on the dash.

Symphony HU is pants, get a decent aftermarket HU. Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc.

BTW congrats on the purchase of your VRS they're great cars. :thumbup:

If the lighter socket is still not working make sure the rear window child lock button on the drivers door is not pressed as this also shuts off the 12v lighter socket because it can be reached from the back seats.

Although the symphony is pants there are not many after market head units that match the green dash and look that good imo. Try and find a Becker Grand Prix.... and make the garage pay for it!

I have a pioneer HU with green lighting

My kenwood has green backlighting too. However, it seems very difficult to find a headunit that doesn't look like it was designed to fit in something from the fast and the furious.

I Had a Sony H/U that had CD slot & USB, which i could choose the background lighting to be either Red or Green.

The garage is putting in a new symphony head unit, but I am planning to upgrade after xmas. I'll try & get a bargain in the sales!!!!!!!!
