Bargain Aero Wipers!

Featured Replies

Just ordered myself a set of the WB5-19 from Wiperblades.co.uk Universal fit retroblades expecting an okay alternative to the standard coat hangers on my Octavi MKI (I'd had some experience fitting the OEM ones from a MKV to my previous Golf MKIV, also had experience paying an arm and a leg if my memory serves me correctly!).

I have to say the quality, build and fit of my new cheap an cheerful wipers is astonishingly good, I was very pleasantly surprised.=- I can't tell the difference between these Aero wipers and the OEM extortionate ones.

A really competitively priced pair of blades that in my opinion leave the OEM ones standing for price and I'll be brutally honest I prefer the fit, next up was the volume test- they are practically silent and leave the Coat Hangers standing in performance. Gets my total seal of approval and I am Mr.Fussy! B)

Thanks for the info - might try a set of these when my Bosch ones give up

I'm assuming you got the 21/19 set for £11.50?

I think they were yes, maybe a bit more with P+P definite 10/10

Probably best re-reviewing them in a few months time to see how they stand up. I have Bosch retro aero's and there still going strong after 6 months....

How does the passenger one sit? usually the end is lifted from the windscreen slightly with aero wipers?

Do you have a link?

I have proper mk4 Golf ones, and they are still going strong after 90k of miles and several years of use

I've been using a set of £10 a pair ebay retro fit wipers for little over a year now. They aren't noisy, give a clear wipe leaving no standing water and furthermore, blend into the wiper arms very well. At this cost I wouldn't have a problem having to change them every 6 months, but honestly haven't needed to! Very impressed also.

Tried the cheap ones after a set of Valeo ones finally gave up the ghost.

Have gone straight back to Valeo as they were smearing, juddering and missing half the passenger side where it curves away.

Nice post

Just bought a standard Bosch drivers side from Halfrauds as wasn't prepared to pay £27 for one Aero Bosch item. :o

Tesco are doing some of the 'flat' type (like Audi TT etc).

I've bought and fitted a pair, they're pretty good. Don't judder and work well so far.

£6 each.

Aldi flat blades - £12.99.

They do exactly what it says on the tin

Costco doing Goodyear flat Blades £5.99 +vat each thats about £14 for the front set.

Seem to have good reports elsewhere.

Will fit tomorrow

Just to say thanks to 'blackielawless' . I ordered the WB5-19 set from Wiperblades.co.uk

Easy to fit and they are nice and quiet.

Cheers.

Cool stuff mate, mine are a treat compared to the standards, much prefer these. Glad you like em

One thing I would say, if you pop the wipers up to clean your windscreen you may inadvertently raise the wiper head slightly which with the new blades and attachment can flip the little switch up which releases the blade, so just a warning to keep an eye out B) Its hard to notice but I keep an eye on mine.

just ordered a set of these and will post when fitted. Cheers for the find...

Further to this thread - the Tesco blades ended up being crap, lol!

So I bought a set of silicone 'PIAA' blades in January 2011. Not cheap at around 50 quid! But came recommended by a lot of folk on Pistonheads.

Nearly 18 months later - they're still working like new. No judder, no smear, no noise - and perfect, clean wipes, every time. They also haven't started to go rusty either which is another pet hate of mine on some blade units.

Plus, as you use them more and more, they coat the screen with a layer of silicone. Hence now, at speeds over about 50mph, the slippery coating on the screen means that when it starts raining, the water beads up and runs upwards and off the screen. Weirdly, you can't see the water running up the screen at all at night, so if it's raining at night and I'm driving on a motorway, I don't even have to switch the wipers on at all

And they're especially good when you overtake an HGV in the ****ing wet - you know how sometimes doing this covers the screen in a scary amount of spray so you can't see until the next 'wipe'? With the PIAA's, you don't have this problem.

Highly recommended.

I use the cheap ebay aero wipers but I also use nano coating on ALL the windows. I have used a few different ones but am now using G-Techniq G1 and G3. having to buy a new pair of blades every 18months is no hardship when they only cost £10 for the set (have aero on the rear as well) By using a coating I benefit from all round visibility not just the windscreen. Granted I would happily buy the PIAA ones WHEN they make them in retrofit Aero style and drop the price a lot :D

Take it these are still retro fit?

Can't beat the proper ones..................................

I've been using the wiperblades.co.UK aero retrofits for a couple of months, working great and cost peanuts compared to what some places will charge for wiper blades

I've got bosch aero blades (about £20 a set) and am sort of impressed and unimpressed. I find they wipe well, one or two lines of water arent cleared though and they drag water back across the screen when they go back down which is odd.

I also used the Glass tecniq coating and am thoroughly unimpressed :( The water start to bead at 75mph but i think you'd need to do about 90mph to get it working properly. Applied as per instructions aswell ?!

Can I please check the current consensus on this issue?

I'm currently running Bosch retros from Wiperblades.co.uk that were probably purchased some time in 2010. They seem pretty effective (although need replacing now), but look a bit gash to the raising of the standard arms. I'm having a new windscreen fitted on Monday and so I want new blades to go with it, but the cost of replacement arms is too much with everything else I have going on at the moment.

So the Bosch retros again, or just OE? Are the retro aeros THAT much better? Anybody else switch back? Any other ideas?

Thanks guys.

I still have my original mk4 Golf aero blades on the car - fitted them about 5 years ago - probably a good 130k miles ago and they are still going strong. I am on my third windscreen though (keep breaking them :-( )

I use the Wiperblades.co.uk own brand, had them on my previous Mondeo and now have them on the Octy, can't beat them for the price, clear the screen well and last ages :)
