VRS 0-60 test - what, when, how, where, why?

Featured Replies

Gonna do 0-60 test in my remapped VRS,

How many revs should I start with before lifting the clutch?

When should I change gear?

Traction on or off? how does it make a difference?

Traction off 2nd gear rev to 4k then sidestep the clutch, i achieved a quickest 0-60 on timing gear of 6.5 seconds

Lets stick to 1st gear, dont want to damage the clutch

let us know how quick you managed

bet you cant manage the exact same time twice emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

i got 6.8 with a gmax performance meter.

I used a Racelogic Driftbox to measure 30-70 (not too interested in 0-60) and my 180/312 Furby did a respectable 6.1s. Great for in gear real-world driving and overtaking. A FWD diesel is never going to be the dogs in traffic light GP's, but the diesel surge in the mid-range humbles many other cars.

lets face it the 0-60mph time might be not too shabby but the vrs is dead in the water come 80mph

After 80 doesn't matter as it starts getting illegal lol

If you use 1st, all you'll get is bags of wheelspin, you'll just throw away a couple of seconds TBH. If you really want the fastest 0-60, launch in 2nd as Gary says.

Strange I don't find my mapped Fabia any less engaging 80 mph plus, certainly not dead in the water, though I realise 90 mph is a max on motorways and 100 mph is a ban - but heck these mapped motors are massive fun.

Let us know when your clutch explodes :giggle:

I wouldnt say dead in the water, but they deffo start struggling after 80-90mph

Matt

the economy will certainly struggle emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif .... afterall thats why we all drive a derv and not an evo isnt it? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ....

Do they? I took mine down to London and back today and it was brill. Nobody overtook me.LOL

Dont get me wrong, it doesnt have problems getting there, or cruising at higher speeds, but you put your foot down at 80/90, it doesnt have much urgency

Matt

Had to come back to this. We find the car warmed up at 80 mph and really ready for fast forward. Maybe the map was good. My people declined to tell me who. Surely there must be something wrong with any Fabia VRS that has had enough at 80 mph .

I know what jase is saying, the sense of urgency is starting to wane at about 80mph, depends on the map tho, mine was still producing over 300 ft lbs at 5k so no problems for me till about 120 when aero dynamics start to play a big part, my clutch also managed fine and i replicated my time on virtually every run give or take a tenth, i wouldn't use the 2nd gear launch on a standard clutch mind but with a lsd and a spec stage 3+ clutch i managed some pretty reasonable 0-60 times

I never said it had enough at 80, just if you floored it, there wasnt much of a rush about things. This was on a tame 170bhp remap tho. If you had a nice spikey, on the limit map then yeah, it might be a bit perkier.

Matt

And this thread :rofl::rofl:

What if you've got a performance clutch any difference there?

Makes a lot of difference, I've driven a vRS modded to a bit over 200bhp with performance clutch and single-mass flywheel. It vibrated a bit at tick-over, was sharp on the uptake, but it absolutely flew! Not a hint of clutch slip.

EDIT: it's THIS car BTW. :)

The 1st reply to this hit the nail on the head, 2nd gear, TC off, 4k and go. Do that and welcome decent 0-60 times.
