Water in passenger footwell

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have water in my passenger footwell :(

Ive checked the sunroof drains and there was only a little bit of crud come out.

I havent messed with any of the grommets so im a bit bewildered what it could be?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks.

Scuttle panel drains are possibly blocked. Either at the ends of the scuttle itself, or behind the mudflaps/arch liners.

Pop off the plastic scuttle panel and dig out all the leaves and mud!

You could test it by running a hose directly into the scuttle and see how fast it drains away. If it fills up and drains slowly then you know where the problem is.

Could be the bung to the right of the pollen filter in the scuttle area, thsi will leak in between the glovebox. Check the rear passenger footwell, it is probably a swimming pool.

I ran a cable through mine, and then used some sealant on it:

Remove a few of the torx screws for the rear of the wheel arch liner and pull the liner out a bit you may well have a lot of nice compost in there which won't help..... Check both the driver and passenger sides while you are doing it.

thanks for the replies guys - the carpet isnt that wet, more damp than anything else.

I'll check those parts though - thanks.

Otherwise door seals and membranes would be the next things to check.

My wife had a similar problem on her 53 plate L&K.

Turned out to be the drivers door seal.

Water on the top of the plastic scuff/trim bit at the bottom of the door opening is a good indication of the seals/membrane having failed. Has the car has any replacement glass / electric window issues (glass dropping), speakers replaced, locks replaced?

Otherwise the aircon drain can get blocked, iirc.
