other cars

I am sure skoda owners have car prejudice as much as other people, so confess.

Which makers do you ignore through either through general concern over reliability, image ;) ,styling.dealers

It saddens me to say i would not consider anything with a rover badge at the moment.I see them as dated cars.I love Alfa's but even now get concerned over electrics and wouldn't even go there(love the gt.though).ford and vw dealers put me off their cars for life and the audi experience was not special, just expensive.

so who doesn't do it for you? ;)

I go for comedy value so anything is fine for me, on the proviso that:

a) It is tunable

B) Is likely to make me laugh when I "shock" someone else.

:D

****ron just nothing floats my boat

rover hum maybe if i was alot older

renault been there done that and cried over it

asian cars (except japan) i will never be that poor !!!!

I like French cars, but would be put off by the electrical gremlins which seem pretty evident.

Rover...only one I'd consider would be a 75, the other's are old and I really didn't like the 200 I drove a couple of years back.

Ford/Vauxhall seem to be a "safe" choice but nothing especially inspirational.

Most Jap cars seem pretty good, though quite pricey and favoured by taxi drivers.

Most Korean cars...well, you get what you pay for. Though the new breed of Kias do look to be a leap forward from their predecessors.

BMW/Merc/Audi - would consider owning, but only on the merits of the vehicle, and not the badge...

Rob.

Ford - I am not a complete sheep.........

Vauxhall - they just never look like the botherd to assemble the car properly - specifically, the "lips" on the bonnet and boot of the new astra. The vectra was pensionable the minute it came out and looks pregnant.

Nissan - oh dear. welcome to Munters-Ville........population, Micra, Almera, Primera.

Anything french - been there, done that. Dealer only on some repair works left my wallet and my rump feling exceptionally sore.

Most Hyundai's etc (except the Hyundai Coupe) a bit too plasticky.

And remarkably, VW. Trading more on name than anything else. Dealer support is non-existent, even in warranty. Build quality highly suspect these days.

BMW - any 3 series, the current 5 and 7's - the older 5 and 7's I'd consider with the right engine and trim. Espcially a 5 series diesel.

Problem is, the german labour market and the representative unions believe that, despite the need for companies to save money, the still deserve massive wage raises in return for less work.

Sounds like a "Red Robbo" style Rover/BL incident waiting to happen IMHO.

VW / Audi - don't see the value versus the price. I feel there are better cars at the prices they charge and I don't buy the image that they are more reliable than most other manufacturers anymore. If Skoda get too upmarket, and raise their prices accordingly, they would fall in this bracket as well.

Renault / Citroen / Peugeot - like several of their cars but am amazed with how fragile / tinny most of them feel.

Rover - don't like any of their cars at all.

Would consider most other makes, even if I hate some of their cars, as most of them seem to have one or two cars that have the blend of reliability, value, interest, performance that I go for. I have always loved Alfas and do still consider them, but the dealer issue still concerns me when looking at Alfas which I would definitely be buying with my heart rather than head (and wallet!) :o

:iagree:

I have found in order of dislike Citroen, Peugeot Renault. The upsides is all their cars have character and all handle very well relative to their market competitor. They are all CHEAP as in finish, price new and used price. Which means the residuals are apauling. Having said all of this i am about to sign up for a Grand Scenic. Why !?!? Because it is the best of a small bunch of cars that has sliding rear seats, and 5 seperate seats. Without going to the likes of a galaxy/sharon etc......

There than that i dilike most cars, so the better list is the one's i like. Volvo, VAG, Land Rover (so-so), Porsche and thats about it - the rest are poo - he he

all depends on the actual car for but i would generally steer clear of korean/rover. don't like em.

i actually quite like my shed nova cos its fun loud and actually goes alright for a POS. get a few funny looks too

For me VW and BMW, far too pricey for what you get. Just my opinion of course!

I'm in the fortunate position of meeting and talking to employees from most of the major manufacturers in the course of my job.

To be honest, most of them see the products they are selling/servicing as crap!

The exception to that does seem to be Skoda I'm glad to report.

Audi...ok

Hyundai..ok

Nissan..not as good as they used to be...links with a certain French company has seen to that apparently. :o

BMW..dunno...fell out with the management of our local dealer years ago. BIG image problem though. Wouldn't have one as a gift simply because of that.

Peugeot /Citroen..owned plenty of their products over the years, but since they started installing multiplex wiring, the electrical problems have risen sharply.

I can't see that I would ever be able to bring myself to buy a BMW, simply because of the fact that I fear that BMW dealers must drug you with something whilst you are buying the car that automatically turns you into a complete idiot behind the wheel...

Pity, as they are good cars...

Ford - Dealers and everyone and their missus have one.

Vauxhall - boring to look at and drive plus the above

VW - nice cars but too much for what they are

Anything French - like the styling, but too unreliable

Rover - poorly built and getting too old.

Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, Nissan Skyline - seem to be owned by techno geeks.

BMW 3 series - as rare as a mondeo and half as classy

Kia - no thanks

Hyundai (except coupe) - more boring than Vauxhall

Most Japanese cars - As Hyundai

Daewoo/Chevrolet - as Kia

Would agree with most of the comments re Ford , Vauxhall , Peugeot etc

If I had the money there are several Audi's I would like .............and also having owned two Saab's in the past I wouldn't say no to another .

But there is one make of car I wouldn't have as a gift ...............Volvo ..................I'm sure they are perfectly adequate cars , and built like a brick st1te house .................but it's just the "Volvo driver" thing .............In my experience all Volvo drivers are *******..................... :D

but it's just the "Volvo driver" thing .............In my experience all Volvo drivers are *******..................... :D

And what colour hair do their wives have? :D

And what's always hanging out of the back window?

Answers on a postcard! :P

I wouldn't go near an Audi or Peugeot for example.....
