Not good in snow.....

Featured Replies

Wow, can't believe what a bad drive into work that was, I have the Conti's on the vRS and I have to say, they are not good in the snow, the slightest incline caused major problems, living in Wales, thats not good.

My old vRS had Vreidsteins on and they coped much better, maybe next year i'll save up for winters......

I recently changed my fronts to Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's which are not brilliant in the snow obvioulsy but have considerably more grip than the Conti's still on the rear. Had a couple of scares where the back has just completely lost it! :o

Mine is on the original conti,s & after 15k they are getting a bit worn & on ice & snow if i get to a hill there cr*p! :)

I've never had a problem until I had to go into town in the snow. As soon as you're stopped by lights or a junctions you're screwed.

Out in the country I've managed to keep the vRS going on some pretty terrible roads and on Conties, Avons and now Maxxis tyres. But there you can keep your momentum going and be smoother.

yes, i must agree but i am running falkens on the front and whilst in scotland two weeks ago almost met a tree head on ( slow speed!).

Its stopping that concerns me more rather than getting going. Its not nice being a passenger while you sitting in the driving seat as I found out last year.

Yes I slid down a hill yesterday, just managed to get the thing to a halt before crossing onto the busy main road! I've got Michelins on the front (down about half-way) and new Falkens on the back. I'm really pleased I got a set of snow socks after the snow at the beginning of the year, thought that they'd act as a talisman to stop snow ever falling again whilst I had the car but they transform it when on the white stuff!

I have just (yesterday) fitted Continental TS830's in 205/55/16 size.

They do appear to grip better/stop better in the slippy stuff.

On the other hand the factory fit new (3000mile) Bridgestones were very poor.

Cheers

I have to say my VRS (CR) on Contis was almost faultless this morning on my way to work in Swansea. Had too small moments on an incline down and and incline up. Both where due to a vehicle stopped at the bottom of the hill (so trying to stop on the way down and then having to stop at the bottom). I could not believe some of the idiots on the road though (mainly white van drivers) with cars going far too fast for the conditions and also tailgating me!!!!!!!!

Went for winters this year (Yokohama W-Drive) & it's transformed the Vrs in this weather - way to go IMHO!
