tpm problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Octavia VRS tyre pressure monitor keeps illuminating when driving in the snow. I have checked all pressures and they are all at 29 psi. All tyres are like new having only done 1200 miles since new. Anyone else having similar problems?

Not because of the snow but it has randomly just came up saying check tyres and there has been sod all wrong!

They are just tempremental, my BMW used to do it all the time too

The TPM works by monitoring changes in the wheel revolutions, maybe if one of your wheel is slipping it 'thinks' it's got a flat....just a suggestion.

The TPM is a great big pile of poo...

I hit a pothole last week which destroyed the rear tyre, I drove slowly for the next mile and a half with a flat tyre to find somewhere safe to change the wheel and the TPM didn't come on then. However, it's come on twice over this weekend and having checked the tyre pressures they're all fine

Have you reset the TPMS (hold button on centre of instrument panel) after resetting/checking the pressures?

Yes

I'm more concerned that it didn't pick up on a flat tyre... doesn't really bode well for a slight loss of pressure really does it

Getting lots of these at the moment due to the snow, odd wheel speeds triggers the system.

Thanks for the advice. It seems the slipping wheels and snow accumulating on the tread is giving false readings to the TPM.

Was just thinking the same, and then Ross posted :)

Will get confused if one wheel is struggling for grip. I'd just keep a visual check on them and keep resetting the button for now. As said, it's not exactly a perfect system...

You are lucky, I hit a pot hole and destroyed 2 tyres with no indication :(
