Autosocks

Featured Replies

Finally got to use my auto socks in anger over the last two days with the fresh snow fall. One of the best purchases car accessory purchases I think I have ever made. Fitted in under two minutes.

Tried them on the same road I got stuck on a few weeks ago. Not even a hint of the TC light! Got a bit confident and stopped half way up and then tried a hill start, again no problem. Can not believe the difference they have made to the traction. Only got them on the front and can feel the back end wandering a little from time to time.

Would definitely recommend them if you live on a untreated side road as a way of getting home. Far cheaper than winter tyres and based on recent experience not sure they would/ could give any more grip.

Aslo another tip for extreme cold is to stay with VAG screen wash, worked down to -15 two weeks ago, car plan winter sutff froze on me at -8 tonight!

Yes I've wondered about investing in a good pair of socks! I just wonder, are they just 'to get you home'? or how long would they last if used frequently?. VAG washer fluid by the way will protect, it is claimed, down to -70 deg if used neat. Good stuff.

I think they are not designed for frequent use. They get you out of difficult situation - very thick snow , a hill you cannot climb etc.

Yep , just bought 4 bottles of the VAG screen wash - on offer at the dealers.

BTW - the size of Autosock that fits the Mk 1 Fabia vRS ALSO fits the new Mk11 vRS

I have a set of them. Not had to use them. My new....ish Greenline has narrow tyres which are also rated well for snow (Duragrips). Not got stuck to the point of needing the socks.

Shame really, I was itching to try them but the Furby just kept on going past all the silly people in BMW's with no grip.

Hi, please could you tell me where you purchased them

Thanks in advance

My VRS (MK1, second hand) came with a set in the boot!

Depsite having had snow here since the end of November, I actually had to break them out just yesterday. All the roads were clear, except for the car parks where I work.

They are fantastic. They got me through a good 6 or 7 inches in exactly the same place I got stuck last year when I left them in the garage.

Although they're easy to put on and remove, it is incredibly messy to do so - you'll need to carry a towel with you so you can wipe yourself down...

I got mine from them as well, took about two weeks to come.

Well worth the money and they will now be an essential order for any new car I get!

Try your local vauxhaul dealer.

Been using my for almost a week now. Can't fault them. They were starting to show very small signs of wear yesterday, the inner fabric starting to come through in places. Still got LOADS of life left. You just need to try and avoid clear tarmac so you start taking the routes no sane person would to avoid the tarmac :)

Then last night came the big test. Towing my dads Jaguar XF out our street :) Result was I had to turn off the ASR and use wheelspin to help pull us along. This is a big no no with the socks as it'll rip them to pieces. So they now have a few holes in them. But their still working fine :)

Ordered Sunday evening, turned up at work Tuesday.
