YETI on Top Gear

Featured Replies

having seen the trailer - there is a Yeti somewhere in the new Top Gear Series

Let us watch and see!!

Spotted that too....want to see what the heli-pads all about ;)

Maybe they force Clarkson to try and do another "serious" road test like the Twingo 133 that ended up in the sea and the Fiesta that was on the beach. This should be interesting.

It seemed the an ICE CREAM featured in it somewhere!!!

We ALL need to keep watch............

I thought I saw two clips.

The first with Clarkson eating an ice-cream.

The second with what appeared to be a helipad on the roof?

They (Top Gear) had better be gentle with us, Clarkson could be playing with fire.

Yes, I saw two clips - a Yeti being driven through fire with Clarkson eating an ice-cream inside... and then one with a helipad on the roof.  Sounds about right for a TopGear road-test.

Clarkson has been very complimentary about the Octavia and Octavia Scout in the past, so I would guess he won't slag the Yeti off. Then again, if you're watching TopGear and expecting anything resembling a "normal" car review you're in very much the wrong place.

I'm expecting something like the review of the Ford Fiesta where they tested it's ability to function as a landing craft for the Royal Marines. Apparently smoke grenade canisters fit perfectly in it's cup-holders. Useful to know that sort of stuff.

The Yeti has already been tested as a troop carrier / fighting vehicle; don't think the designers would have considered the sunroof could used as a gun turret

Hur klarar Skoda Yeti sig som militärt terrängfordon?

You know if he starts by calling it a lump of dog-plop he'll spend 3-4 minutes describing how it's utterly rubbish and there's just no point...then about 45 seconds from the end of the piece he'll say 'but then...' and at that point he declares it motoring opium.

Likewise, if he starts off being positive you just know he'll end up with 'this car is junk because...'

Same thing every time.

Same thing every time.

Top Gear isn't really a car programme any more. It's a comedy show that happens to be based around cars and doing daft stuff with them. And yes, it's a bit predictable, but you know what?  I don't care.  It's funny and entertaining and doesn't take itself seriously.

I reserve judgement until we see the item asI think that we should anticipate favourable comments. Lets face it, the sister magazine to the program gave the Yeti its family car of the year award for 2009.

It's a modern day replacement for Last of the Summer Wine where three blokes spend an hour behaving like three year olds on E-numbersthat happens to be based around cars and doing daft stuff with them. He He very true, but who is Compo, Clegg and Foggy played by?

Ian

Top Gear Magazine currently have a Yeti and a Superb on long term test which are reviewed each month in the 'Top Gear Garage' section of the magazine.

Makes interesting reading...

As long as they're not going to try and sail across the channel in it

Yes, there have been better edtions than that one - found it a little boring. There again the trip to the North Pole by car or the 'race' between the Ferrari Daytona and a powerboat were excellent.

I predict that Jeremy suggests military cutbacks to the extent that the UK doesn't just lose its Harrier Jets but also the aircraft carriers that now have nothing to go on them. The replacement is the Yeti with a flight deck and helicopter on top.

Top Gear is great TV show.

I wacth Dexter, Fringe and TopGear only.

I would like to see Dexter driving Yeti instead of Ford xxx... Top Gear lacks in reality so doesnt matter to me if they drive Yeti or not....

Slightly off subject but.. This week's edition featured a (short) drive along The Blue Ridge Highway which runs along the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains from Virginia through North Carolina and into Tenassee. A couple of years ago I drove about 200 miles of this route - yes at 35/45 mph - and it was fantastic. I was visiting our middle daughter who was teaching in Greensboro' (NC) at the time and I had read about this road. The scenary was as spectacular as Top Gear showed it, but because a lot of the road is above 4,000 feet high - and this was April - at times it was very cold with icicles hanging from the rocks and snow on the ground in some places. I have promised myself that one day I'll go back and do the whole road on a bike!! (in the summer!!) BTW they should have featured 'Ranger Bob' who drives a full sized Police Cruiser and hides behind bushes with a radar gun - they really do enforce that speed limit..

Some of the towns they passed, and the NASCA race track brought back good memories, and if you heard the tyre fitter they really do talk like that !!

Looking forward to the 'special' on Boxing day...

From this month's Top Gear magazine this picture gives a clue as to what the Yeti will be doing!
