So it'd be quite easy to run the battery down by accident then...?

Depends what you leave plugged into it... If nothing is plugged in you won't run the battery down emoticon-0148-yes.gif

As said, I believe they're both constantly live. A test would be to plug an adaptor in that has a power indicator on it (like the TomTom charger). Plug it into each socket then lock the car, see if the indicator stays on.

Constant on on FL Scout. As said if you don't have anything plugged on it, it won't use any power.

PreFL - Always on, too.

Alwasy on.

I like this as I have run an extension lead from the boot to where I place the satnav. it stops the annoying switching off of the satnav every time I switch the engine off (when filling up etc)

It also means that I can charge the phone.

The onyl time I need to be careful is when I use the small fridge that I have in the car as this can run the battery down very qucikly.

wonder how easy it is to take a feed and run an extension into the cubby hole to the right of the drivers wheel so I could have the sat nav up there on the screen out of the way

Blimey!

I was just thinking of using an inline fuse to send some power to the cubby hole! I guess just unplugging the car battery would sort the cigarette lighter being on and taking the feed off that, but add a switch so I don't drain the battery

I have a Snooper hardwired into the front interior dome light. No problems so far.....

I'll probably run a lead to the dashtop cubby for the satnav too, but feed off the fusebox or somewhere else.

I stupidly left a fridge plugged in over night once camping in Belgium. Packed the entire car the next morning (An Audi A2 with the battery in the boot) to discover the battery was dead. Doh. So had to unpack it all again and wait for assistance.

In my Yeti both the 12v sockets are permanently on as well regardless of ignition position. Great to charge a phone or something from the boot socket I have to say, nicely hidden from any eyes.

Towsure sell a voltage sensitive in-line adaptor that switches the power off once the battery voltage drops below a pre set level.

Charging phones and torches is a good reason for always on.

I also have flattened a battery attempting to chill a bottle of rose.....
