Door Open Light, Won't Go Off.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As the title says my door open light is constantly illuminated, after doing a bit of digging I think I've traced it down to the boot lock microswitch.

My reasoning behind this is that the interior light operates correctly i.e on/off with opening and closing of all doors.

The boot light bulb is missing and I believe the rear washer motor has previously been replaced, causing me to suspect that there has been a previous leaky rear washer pipe.

My question is,do I need to replace the boot lock/microswitch or is it possible to bypass the warning light.

Any help appreciated.

JD.

Does it affect the alarm or central locking?

Only other thing is.

If I press open on the central locking and then open the boot (i.e to put shopping in), after a short while the car re-locks itself whilst I still have the boot lid up.

i have the same prob fella and still trying to replace it as i have had a new one foe quite some time and i think mine was same prob the rear washer leaks on it, i have just rplaced all my rear wash wipe setup and have sealed it, and re greased it all but i think its down to the micro switch as if u unplug it it stays on constant, i think it has summin to do with the latch mech as my boot jumps about even when closed tight, best trying to source one of anouther car and replace it as u cant get to the micro switch

I had the same thing.

Take the tailgate trim panel off, you'll see a connector with a few wires in it going to the lock assembly. From memory it's about 2cm long and black. Unplug it, and see if the light goes out. (Make sure all your other doors are closed... lol)

There is another connector too which is the central locking.. but if I remember, the sensor wire is the easiest to get too.

If it does make the light go out, you can either leave it as that, if you don't mind not having a boot light, or if you look where the boot latch bar is, just inside the boot, above the bumper, on the trim panel you'll see a smal rectangle panel. Pop this out and it will give you access you the latch bar. Loosen it, and move it around, and keep trying to see if it activates the microswitch when the tailgate is shut.

Mine didn't seem to have any logic, I just had to find a setting where the boot was tightly shut, and the light was out.

Hope that helps.

i have this now again, must be a loose wire somewhere.

Mine was "now and again". When it flickers see if your interior light is on. If not it's the boot. It's a 2 minute job to fix by removing the inspection panel I mentioned in my earlier post!

Thanks mate, lights off for now until I can get round to a more permanent fix. emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

BOOT DEFO. I HAVE SAME PROB. DOES BOOT WOBBLE WHEN LIGHT IS ON?

It sounds as though you've already nailed the cause of the problem, but this behaviour confirms it's the boot switch.

The car's supposed to re-lock itself if it is unlocked but no doors are opened in case the zapper was pressed by accident. It should do the same thing if the car's unlocked, the boot is opened and closed but no other doors are opened - I suppose the theory is that you got something out of the boot but forgot to lock the car.

If your car's locking with the boot lid still open then doesn't know the boot's open, so it must be a faulty switch (or wiring or connection, of course).

Mine Didn't wobble. But I moved the latch bar and the light went out, but the boot was a tad loose. Then I moved the bar down a bit, and the boot was shut tightly but the light was on. It's a case of trial and error to find the right point.

my car locks itself too. i'm sure its a factory setting because my work car is a peugeot and that locks its self. it is just a setting for the folks who forget to lock the car. i think you'll notice if the doors lock with boot open then shut boot you cant open boot again.

I had the same problem a year or two back.

Turned out to be this little unit in tailgate. The solenoid

Water got into it from the stupid leaking wiper motor. Fixed the wiper motor first then stripped solenoid apart(not to difficult) found crud and muck in there stopping the return mechanism working. Cleaned it up and greased it and all's well.

It sits where arrow pointed. You can bypass it by unpluging the rods and removing the wiring plug (red arrow)
