Im pretty inexperienced here with electrics so wouldnt know where to start sadly.

Yeah, I agree with clive. First, ahve a look at the wiring - Make sure there are no cracks or anything in it.

Also, check and clean the coilpack wiring earth bolt on top of the cam cover. If it is having random multiple misfires, it may be an earth problem. Funnily enough, the earth bolt is closest to cylinder 2. :dull:

Have you tried swapping plugs over?

This sounds like the problem i have with my Octavia VRS had a guy look at it and he reckons one of the bolts that holds the turbo on has split and the pressure is blowing out the turbo hence the loss of power under load

This happens in 4th and 5th gear when accelerating through 20 - 30000 revs

Only solution i think is to have the turbo cut off and re threaded just waiting for a VW mechanic to give me a price :'(

30,000 revs! Not surprised the turbo is losing power lol

Not sure if that is it, because you would really hear it leaking, plus it would do it all the time, not just at full throttle.

See what happens

Lol too many 0's

It doesnt do it all the time only when i put my foot down and when i do the revs drop rite off then i have a massive flat spot when i put my foot down then the revs catch up

Showing fault code P1176

Its very frustrating im fallin outta love with my VRS

A few pics. Taped the loom up as best as I could but the symptoms are still there. Now, the 2 seperate codes 'random multiple misfire' - is this against ALL cyls?

There was also one yesterday too for cyl 2 misfire.

Heres a few pics.

All 4 look the same. BKR7EIX put in about a month ago.

Taped the loom up and connectors as best as I could and sanded down the earth and ring.

Plugs look ok?

are they the standard plug??? whats the gap you got on them???

  • Author

Iridiums BKR 7EIX standard gap from factory (0.76mm)

I must add, only under full load does the car misbehave. Starts, idles, drives fine otherwise.

My next plan of action may be

-coilpacks (all 4)

-ecs wiring harness

my bet would be on fuel pump as its only under load so sounds like fuel cut to me

anyone near you u can borrow there pump takes 5 mins to swap over

I can try and find out. Hows it accessed, from under the back seats?

Edited by Liverpool-Lad

Is it possible to log fuel pressure with vagcom? Or measure the engine running lean?

You can try to log measurement block 032 using vag com.

Do I need a full version of VAG-COM via rosstech or will the shareware (free) version tell me?

there are a few ways to log it aswell as logging knock sensors but imo the easyiest way is to ask someone to pop around and try there pump it reall is a 5 min job under the rear seats

3 screws undo pipes ( before this release the fuel cap and another tip disconect it electrically and then turn ignition to first position this will clear the fuel lines so you dont have fuel go everywhere) then undo fuel lines and uncrew cap and lift out job done
