Setting Service indicator to suit actual intervals!

Featured Replies

Query for those in the know

Basically I got my 04 Fabia VRS in August. When i picked it up it had a minor service consisting of Oil, air and pollen filters. since then i've done about 3k and my oil service indicator has appeared this morning, now it's clearly not ready for a change so was wondering if the interval could be set to match when it actually needs changing?

If not and i basically have to leave it until it's due a change in 1 year/10k time will the indicator then configure itself as needing another 10k to trigger the light again or will it still configure it from when the light first appeared?

If i can change it can anyone tell me how to?

I'll take it as a big fat no then!

or maybe people just dont know emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Someone with VCDS would be able to change the intervals!

Just needs to be reset with VCDS at the next service.

Highly unlikely you can reset it to account for the time and mileage since the last service (not quite sure what you mean by "minor service" BTW). You can reset the display now to get rid of the indication (follow the instructions in the handbook), then make sure it's reset at the next service. The service light doesn't necessarily come on before a service so the resetting should be a routine item to be done - sounds like it wasn't in your case... (I wonder what else might have been missed - have you checked the date on the pollen filter?)

Right just been out for a look see!

Using VCDS 10.6.3

Select control module,

[17] Instruments,

10: Adaptation,

Ch2, Change the value from 1 to 0, Save

Ch44, Confirm the value is 365.

Ch41. Change the current value to Days since last service,

i.e. car serviced 75 days ago, New value would be 75, Save.

Close controller.

Jobs a good 'un

So time can be adjusted but not mileage?

So time can be adjusted but not mileage?

Yes mileage can be adjusted too, I only checked the time factor as I never do more than 10k in a year, But It's there! Values are in Kilometers.

IIRC it's Channels 45 & 46!

Call me selfish!emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Yes both miles and days can be adjusted.

But it may not accept all inputs, i.e you might not be able to save say 200 days and 6000 miles.

Quite often it will only accept 365 days and 9300 miles in channels 44 and 45
