Tax Disc Question

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My company organises tax for my company car, as they keep the log book etc. Thing is my road tax ran out yesterday but apparently the new tax disc has been purchased and sent to my office but I haven't received it yet.

Was just wondering, can I get in trouble with the Police for not displaying the new tax disc, even if its been purchased? I know ANPR should link to the database and show the car is taxed, but if I were stopped, or if the car was parked on the road etc, could that be seen as failure to display?

Any thoughts appreciated, before I have to drive to work on tuesday?

Cheers very much in advance, and Happy New year too!

iirc regardless of whether a vehicle is taxed or not, failure to display a valid tax disc does carry a financial penalty, having said that I think they still allow 10 ten days grace for tax discs 'lost in the post' etc.

HTH

The police will know whether the the car taxed or not.

It's all done by Bar Code and police cars are able to access the Data Base.

Thanks very much for the replies guys, much appreciated! Hopefully it will arrive in the post on Tuesday.

I drive a HGV and my Tax Disc didn't arrive, My T.M. told me to drive it and I would be okay, I asked him for a letter with relevant details and for him to put his name to it. He refused (no need) So I refused. END of

whoever said it was five days is correct. thats the current law. you don't have to display for 5 days, as long as it IS taxed........
