Remapped Fabia vRS review

Featured Replies

Hellfire... nice review mate :)

I'm interested to know your thoughts on the suspension setup on the Furby now its remapped - how do you feel its coping with just the standard setup + strut brace?

oooooh i was hoping they were outside so we could see all the smoke

The car doesnt seem to smoke with the Cupra Intake pipe, I have noticed two occassions with a mild blue mist but other than that it's like a petrol :D

No complaints so far, tbh it depends on how much you want to "modify" the car, I like the fact that I returned 57.3 mpg on the way home from work today and relaxed all the way, however if you wanna go quickly then yeah it's very good (now it's got the seat sport strut brace), however if you are planning to go really quick or on a track then you might aswell get dampers and springs :)

Very nice video's, on an analogue watch we've just timed the 0-60 a 7 seconds and the 0-90 at 14 seconds!

If it'd of floored first gear & it wasnt damp & the private track road surface was better so that I could get the power down with no slippage I think 6.5 would be atainable, im going to goto Elvington and do some 1/4 mile's to see what region i'm in.

Indeed, I tried the 0-60 sprint but as it was wet traction was a big issue (the issue being I didn't have much!) Even still it was a tad over 7 secs.

In the dry I think sub 7 secs would be easy :P

Autocar achieved 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds with their standard car unmodified and fitted with the wide ratio gearbox...

AHUM...Someone told me in confidentiality that the autocar vRS was remapped by Skoda...

either way 7.2 to 60 is nothing to sneeze at in a diesel!! :D

I agree it's excellent & even if it was remapped it will of only had Delivery Mileage & standard Skoda remap and not a full custom Jabba one ;)

Umm standard Skoda re-map? How's that work then?

Cheers

Hellfire... Nice review mate.

Couple of questions for you if you do not mind.

How does the re-map effect drivablity?

Do you have a RR print out by any chance?

In that case, 24 seconds from 0-100 is a crap score.

A standard Ibiza FR 1.8T would p*ss on a remapped Fabia vRS from a great height if thats true.

A standard Ibiza TDI Sport also got 24 seconds... so explain that?

I think whoever told you that is bullsh***ing you.

Come to think of it your probably correct because I have timed my vRS doing a ton in around 15 seconds (not confirmed using a VBOX though).

The RR printout is on Page 1 of this thread I believe, you may want to turn off ZoneAlarm as it doesnt seem to like Briskoda file attachments.

The drivability is improved, and no different around town, torque through the gears is much improved throughout the rev range, and 3rd gear seems to get more punch at around 3.5k like a petrol would ( I suppose 195 bhp has something to do with that  ), it's just like normal when you drive it "normally", but then much brisker when driving quickly, 70-100 is incredible.

Off topic, Hellfire did you find brakes, if not I'm waiting on e-mails from 3 guys, price around

@Hellfire

Was your ecu opened for a replacement chip or was the map loaded via the OBDII port?

Generic Remaps are around 165-170bhp none of this 180/190 people say

Best bet is to get a nice safe remap from one of the site sponsors.

I.e

Jabbasport

DervDoctor

etc

:)

I deffo remember going past you at least once and I know you were trying judging by the black cloud behind you.

As for the ring its down to the driver and besides your car is more better for the track than mine so :P

Never said one was better than the other, just a reccomendation :)
