New year, New suspension... :-(

Featured Replies

Well the new year has brought about a need for new suspension, or at least new springs.

I just noticed while out for lunch that the front OS is sitting a bit lower, quick check revealed that a coil has broken on the spring,

so will need rectified before the MOT early next month.

Any suggestions for replacement parts as I just looked up Eurocarparts and they're showing around £50 per spring, so I may aswell

get an aftermarket set such as Eibach, but may as well get shocks too, since the car is now onto 107k.

I had thought about vmaxx coilover last summer, but don't want to turn a daily runner into a bone shaker :-(

Cheers. :-)

Eibach Pro-Kit will be around £135. Depends on your exact model, but you don't list that in your post or profile info.

Damper options, if you want to keep that fairly standard and close to OEM, is to look at Bilstein B4s. These are available from GSF, and others probably. A few people have changed to these when the originals have worn out. If you're interested I'll try and find the threads on it for you.

Don't think you've done too badly for the mileage the car's done. It'll also feel much better to drive once they've been swapped

When you say close to OEM do you mean in terms of ride or ride height?

Excellent, thanks Wardy..... I was looking at eibach spring kits earlier today at around £160, just found the for close to £135 though....

The B4's sound like just the thing for me. Its a PD140 Elegance I've got, so a bit firmer would be nice, but not too much.

Prices look good too, around £50 each for fronts and £40 each for rears. !

Feel better about this option over the coilovers.

The B4s are a good option and basically a gas version of the standard dampers.
