Ah, that is what that thread was all about - never got round to reading it!

Ordered one due to this offer :)

Awaits Commission....................emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Mine was ordered on 27th December so at the old 17.5% rate, I was warned that it would change to 20% but they offered a better guaranteed trade in for my current car if i ordered in December vs January so it all worked out the same.

:)

wait dont do it save your money!,wait for the diesel and manual boxemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

My wife was waiting on our Fabia coming back from being fixed at Skoda today and the salesman tried to sell her a new vRS with £2500 off.

First class service from my dealer through out! only ordered mine just before xmas :) (although its was ment to be a Demo somewhere :p) hopefully will see a few of you on my way back to norwich from birmingham on monday! How on earth did you manage to bag well over £1200 discount over and above the VAT free offer??!! As the basic car is £13665 VAT free and with £690 of OTR charges, you've got a heck of a lot more than £210 of extras on there!!

I'm not sure if the car is brand new or whether it is an ex-demo car as I can't tell from your post but in either case, how can the dealer give you so much discount and still be at least breaking even??

so what would the on the road price be for a fully loaded VRS?

mines a brand new one. ordered through car file

the £1200 off is the vat offer then the rest is what the dealer can take off (margins etc)

im over the moon! the dealer is even picking me up from the station 20 mins away

also the VAT free will be a subsidy that Skoda pays the dealer, so the dealer doesnt pay the vat skoda does

Not what my dealer told me. He said that even though Skoda advertise the offer, it still comes off their margin and therefore there's no room for extra discount.

If he's lying through his teeth I shall not be a happy bunny. I've just got off the phone to him aswell, apparently my car is now at the dock waiting to be shipped!

hmm i think you will find that SKODA uk offers are, just that, offers SUBSIDISED by skoda i.e if they offer £1k off a car skoda either sells the car to the dealer at £1k or puts in £1k towards the deposit

i know people in the industry and thats how all other manufactures work. if in doubt ring skoda uk :giggle: they will deffinatly tell you!

Ok so how would you suggest I approach my dealer about this in the politest way possible?

Bear in mind I negotiated a reasonable discount at the time of ordering in November and all he's done is scrap my original deal and replaced it with the VAT free offer. Nothing more than that and nothing less. He tells me that 'with those discounts' there's not a penny he can give me more (but why should he, he's got the sale already?)

Or am I just up the proverbial creek without a paddle being this far down the line?

id ring up carfile, broadspeed, drive the deal, get a price from them and ask to dealer to match it, all the dealers work to the same margin so should be able to give similar discounts

Even though my car has been built, waiting at the docks and the dealer has both my signed order form and £550 deposit? It's a little late to be scavenging the internet, hoping that the dealer will match any prices I may find. As I say, he already has the sale in the bag so where would his incentive be?

Trouble is I was happy with the discount I negotiated on my original deal and the trade-in price for my part-ex. Although I've saved an extra £1200 on top of my original deal (which by rights I should be over the moon about) I can't help thinking that the dealer is getting the better deal out of this. He's not giving me a penny more discount on top of the manufacturer backed 20% discount which means all my hard work negotiating in the first place has been lost as anyone could walk in, order a new vRS and get exactly the same deal without any bargaining whatsoever.

Be honest here, should I just be grateful for the situation I'm in or if not how would you handle it?

You are in the exact same boat as me, I've been in today to find out where the car has been ( still not been shipped out of Grimsby yet ).

I'm very happy with the extra dosh off the car, but it's not going to stop me trying it on before I hand over the settlement money, bearing in mind they've had £7k sat in their bank from mid september when they took my old car as PX.

1st service free at least :D

at the end of the day it depends how you feel, if you think your deal is good then carry on, if not just ask the worst the dealer will say is "sorry, no" at the end of the day there profit comes from selling the car (they get paid a fee for each car sold then a bonus if they meet targets (thats when you get the best discounts as they may only need to sell a handfull more cars to reach it)

i just think there is no harm in asking, they arnt going to turn round and say go else where as they need that sale!. they also get a fee each time they sign you up to finance, i think :S
