Drivers front wing replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all, hoping someone can help me out, I decided to attack a volvo the other day in my 07 fabia Vrs, unfortunately i lost and needless to say I now need a new drivers side front wing. So my question is how difficult is the job? any guidance would be much appreciated, I can get a non oem part painted off ebay for 120. Will this non oem part fit ok or is it a case of suck it and see? Oh and if any one has a silver wing lying around

? please let me know. Cheers

I replaced the passenger front wing on my fabia the other day. It isn't that hard.

You will need to take the wheel off and remove the wheel arch liner (there are quite a few screws). The front bumper needs to be removed as well.

The wing is held on with 4 bolts along the top edge, two in the wheel arch, one below the A pillar which is visible when you open the door, one bolt on the sill, and a nut underneath the plastic strip at the bottom of the windscreen. There will be some fixings at the front of the wing behind where the bumper was as well. Some of the bolts needed the sealant scraping off so I could get a socket on the heads. All the fixings require a 10mm socket/spanner.

I found that undoing all the fixings was easy but the harder bit was breaking all the sealant sticking the wing to the rest of the body in the wheel arch. A good bit of tugging acheived that.

The workshop manual (can be found through these forums) has details of how to do it. Haynes tells you how to take off the bumper but not the wing.

I assume a non oem part would fit if it supposed to be a direct replacement.

Thanks very much for that, dont think ill need the workshop manual great description. Ill just order the wing and give it a go. Cheers

I'm slightly surprised someone's making non-OEM replacements...

My link. It just seems a little to cheap considering the stealers want £80 fo a unpainted wing.

I personally wouldnt buy it, bought an 'oem standard' wishbone from the local motor factors, ended up it was pure dung, different shape sligthly, had to buy the geninue wishbone from skoda at a cost of £76. Left with the ****ty £35 pound motorfactors collecting dust! From now on it'll be geninue parts or nothing for me! Its cheap for a reason

Says it's Skoda who makes it - hence it's OEM - the supplier only paints it?

It's also only £110 not £120

Also says:

GOOD QUALITY NON ORIGINAL NEW FRONT WING

But it's got GOOD FITABILITY, so that's OK........

I'm going to be replacing my passenger wing soon, so this has helped a lot.

Has there ever been a guide/sticky on removing/refitting front wings??
