Build Times/Delivery Times

Featured Replies

I ordered my fifth new Skoda on October 20th 2010. I have previously had three Octavias and at present a Superb Elegance 2.0 D Manual. This is the first time I have had one that has had to be ordered from build and last week, February 26th, I enquired on a delivery date. I was informed that the build date was originally week 8, changed to week 10 and now was week 13. I am not holding my breath on that time as it looks as though it will be May before I see any sign of it which will be well over six months. IS THIS A RECORD or does anyone know of a longer wait????

reference lead times, my car has been built 4 weeks ahead of schedule and is on the wya to UK now. I wasnt even informed of this until they sent the registration docs through to me.

Another new guy on the block.

I ordered a Fabia 1.2 TSI 105PS Elgance DSG mid March 2011. I was quoted build week of 26 (mid June) by my retailer. I have just spoken with Skoda UK who have advised me that the build date has been cancelled due to model update and they have no further up dates at the moment.

It would certainly help if they kept their dealers updated to avoid customers having to ring their help desk.

Interesting to hear that Hugh. I ordered exactly the same model for my other half this weekend and the dealer is presently quoting up to 35 weeks for delivery! I have been reliably informed this is deliberately pessimistic and could well improve - perhaps due to previous occasions where delivery dates have been quite the opposite and customers have been left disappointed!

Lets hope the dates improve for both of us

Update to above, picked up my new car on 31st March so just over five months wait. The good news is I, of course, had it at last years prices and looking at the new price list, it would have cost me a further £850 if ordered now. Having driven it for just over seven weeks, it is as good as previous but is quieter and a smoother ride. I think they must have changed the gear ratios as seems to be less revs on indicator for relevant speeds and MPG is already VG superior even before it is properly run in.

If you have gone from a PD diesel to a CR diesel then you will notice a massive difference in refinement and yes the gearing is a little longer.

Originally I was hankering after a Polo GTi, but it was way too expensive and the boot was tiny. In the vRS estate I effectively get much the same car, at much less cost with a massive boot. A win-win all round I reckon.

Same here but I was looking at used ones. But with decent GTi's being about 14k and Octavia's being a bit pricey too, plus there's always that niggle that being a hot hatch it may have been mistreated it was a no brainer to buy the vRS.

Totally agree MartynVRS, ours was always going to be new on a PCP, Polo @ 20K with no real discount would have meant much higher montly payments for what is in reality (soft touch plastics and a bit more style aside) pretty much the same car. We were also after a bigger car this time and the Polo boot was no better than the one we already had. That the montly payments were less than a 1.2 TSi Elegance DSG with same spec like yourself vRS estate became a bit of a no brainer.
