Good Independant service in Tyne and Wear?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Following my earlier post about servicing costs, does anyone out there know a good VAG/Skoda independent garage in the North East area who can do long-life servicing and cambelt change?? Any suggestions and experiences good and bad most appreciated. Thanks.

Silbury Skoda in Cramlington. Service Manager there is called Peter, ask to speak to him.

You could try Volksparts in Langley Moor. I've used them in the past for odd jobs on my out of warranty skodas and Vw's but not for quite a while as I don't work down that way any more.

There are directions on the link above.

Also there is a an ex Skoda dealer (Barmoor Garage) in Barmoor, Ryton who still may do servicing.

They're not a vag group specialist, but I use Bonello's I'm byker. Honest, sensible prices. They did my timing belt, can't remember the price, but it was a lot cheaper than main dealer.

I have used Swift in Westerhope, they seem good have all the VAG diagnostic kit and use genuine parts. no courtesy (sp!) car though

Barry's the boss down there if you go mention Michael from Danntec (PC repair) recommended them

Most of my cars in the past have went to Bank Top Garage in Prestwick (Just behind Newcastle Airport). They are a Bosch service garage and always have good prices and service

Ask for Alan Armstrong (Owner/Manager)

Thanks Guys, much appreciated, I'll ring around for the best deal. Drove past Benfield Skoda today and noticed a "Special offer on all servicing" sign, so i popped in. The guy only quoted me £296 for the service, PLUS £500 quid for the cam belt!!!! Needless to say, I just smiled wryly and told him where to put it!!!
