Polo Problems

Featured Replies

Swmbo's Polo is poorly just now. It's a 55 plate with a 1.2 three cylinder engine.

The engine emissions light has come on and it cuts all power above 4k revs in all gears. Someone has suggested it may be the cat on the way out.

During the snowy period I did try and drive it through 2 feet of snow and there was a trail of green liquid stuff left behind on the snow afterwards. Oops.

Anyone know whether this is a cheap thing or an expensive thing? I know, I should take it to the garage and find out properly.....

Should be fairly easy to test all that, just need to generate a readiness code and that will tell you if all the emissions systems are working.

Could be a blocked cat, not missfiring at idle?

Thanks mate.

No misfires, it sometimes struggles to start when cold. The fuel economy is rubbish right now though. It should be a lot better IMO, although it is quite a heavy car for the puny engine.

I see a used petrol Fabia vRS on the horizon.....

I think you're going to have to be minted to fix that mate.

Although seriously, if the cat hot hot and cold it could have caused issues, but then maybe you have dislodged a connector from a sensor down there too

Thats what I thought as the snow was pretty deep and thick. Still haven't resolved it yet as the arrival of a small person has distracted me somewhat.

Why of course. As long as it's 5 door. and, dare I say it, an estate!
