I'm new in these forums and I'm kinda glad to see there are so many people that are so happy and proud to own Skoda.

I'm a cypriot living in the U.A.E. (Dubai to those who don't know it), and almost two years ago i bought a black fabia 2.0RS (this is what it's called there because we have a 'Sportif' 1.4 there as well, and they started recently bringing in the 1.9TDi vRS) with black & red PVC interiors.

Though in the web-site it says that this model comes only in Elegance Trim, mine is in Comfort.

I had a body-kit from Skoda fitted onto it the day it came in, (no skirts though, and my front grill and kit grills are painted in factory silver paint), lowered it by 40mm front & rear with H&R springs, exhaust and tail-pipe, Skoda sports pedals, 50% black window tint and full-range Earthquakes in back.

As far as performance is concerned, I'm very very happy with my baby. I've managed to clock a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds (tested three times with my brother) and a top of speed of (believe it or not, I was surprised too) 137mph (though it says 121mph officially). The handling is great since I lowered it, and the 205/50 R15s I have from Falken are the works.

Is there anyone in here with a 2.0 model or am I the only one? I'd love it if there was at least one person in here who could share his views with me on the 2.0 .

I'd love to be able to drive the vRS one day. I've heard alot about it, and plus the fact that it's diesel (not very popular fuel in the U.A.E., since petrol is so cheap here)just makes me wanna try it out real bad. Ive been in an Octavia vRS...wow.

Other than that, can the rest of you also let me know your views of the 2.0? I don't know anyone who has one.

The 2.0 wasn't available when I purchased my fabia, so I went for the most powerful petrol model at the time - the lowly 1.4 16v The dealer did say that the 2.0 had been withdrawn to sort out some sort of problem, but that could have just been sales-speak...

Anyway... sounds like you've done a fair bit to your car - any chance of seeing some pics?

Actually yeah there is Since i dont nkow how to post images (hint hint), i'll put htis link up and hopefully it will work. The images in this link are of my care before i lowered it and had some of the interiors changed (no sports pedals for instance, and I also forgot to mention earlier that I've had my AC vent frames painted in factory metallica silver)...

I did that on mine fairly soon after I got it...

Unfortunately I had no idea how to do it properly and didn't prepare / undercoat / protect... ended up with paint that scratched, 2 broken "vents" and most of them wouldn't close as the paint was on too thick!

Hey, another 2.0 among the VRSs . I thought I was the only anti-chav here .

I am very pleased with my Elegance 2.0. It is bog standard and coming up to three years old and 31,000 miles. It is a smooth, easy car. It is quite nippy and I would not be surprised if it can reach 60 in under 8 seconds. I've no idea about the top speed though. But I like it enough to have just ordered another one exactly the same to replace it.

I had intended to get a VRS, and it was almost a done deal until I went for a test drive. It was impressively torquey and was great round corners. All that with a low fuel consumption. However, I found the engine noise too much. There were some other slight niggles, but that was the main one. My quibbles probably don't amount to much for others. If you have modded your 2.0 for sportiness, I guess you would be likely to go for the VRS.

As I only ordered my new Fabia on Friday, I still have odd flashes of doubt - I can still change my mind. How nice it would be to zip round corners and pull away easily from others - and to get good consumption at the same time. But I just think of the drawbacks, give a sigh and have another chocolate.

No seat heaters then . I imagine seat coolers might be useful where you live!

They did have problems with the 2 Litre petrol, as i found when I bought my 2nd Octy. The problem was the drive by wire accellerator had dangerous lag on it.

MK head office could not work out why, they even flew in an expert from Skoda CZ, but were unable to resolve the issues. These had the same drive by wire as the Octavia - so there was some head scratching.

Was reliably informed that the 6 brought to the uk, for press, were taken back. The transporter taking them back stopped in at the Skoda dealer in Deal, Kent, as it had several hours before its ferry from Dover and the dealer spoke to the transporter driver.

Wow...i dint know there was a problem with the 2.0, i only knew the 1.4 16V had computer malfunctions. Ive got 55,000kms on my car, and so far have had no problems with it, other than problems ive caused like breakin the vents...thank god no engine problems.

You'll definitely feel the difference with lowering springs, of about 30-40mm. the car will handle alot better, though ur ride will become a little rougher.

I was happy with the VRS setup - firm, but not hard. I wonder if a straight swap of springs would work, bearing in mind that I have standard 15" wheels with 50% profiles.

I would suspect the 2.0 litre is a lot lighter than a TDI so you might find the springs don't lower the car at all

Yes, so it is - 115Kg less on kerb weight, which will be pretty much all at the front. Any suggestions for springs that would give a similar result?

I was also checking the overall diameter of the wheels. The 6J/195x50/15" have a diameter of 22.7" and the 6.5J/205x45/16" have a diameter of 23.3". Is this close enough to count as the same?
