I've been offered a Fabia with a snapped cambelt for peanuts by a friend, just wanted to check with those of you in the know, is the 1.4 an interference engine in the event of belt failure, ie. will it have mashed up the valves? Or is there a possibility of it just needing a belt?

if its the 16v model then im sure its interference so valves will be mashed.
