WRC ?

Featured Replies

My wrc has the black rubbing strips on the doors, so i gues this is somthing that people may have removed over the years?

As for the log book, the cars are registered simply as an octavia rs, so if you run a check on these they don't show up as being a wrc.

The police car link seems likely as why would anyone remove the heated seats, eps, headlamp washers etc etc?

but it would show up on my etka, definitely just an rs but like i say i do quite like it

Go on have a bid...

I agree it does look nice, not sure of the spoiler tho but that could easily be swapped over

As the owner of WRC 100, am 100% confident this is NOT a WRC.

As said before this car has no xenons, headlight wash, heated seats or side airbags.

Someone has added the WRC replica spoiler.

To also clarify, no WRC left the factory with black side rubbing strips. They were never applied as the original decals were fitted instead.

Any WRC sporting side rubbing strips has had them added AFTER leaving the factory. Fact.

Also, Candy White vRS' were only Police response cars, or WRC.

The debate as to if this car was ever put into service can be answered by one simple question, or pic.

I have made that enquiry, standby for the answer.

It is possible the owner doesn't actually know it is an Ex Police car.

And before you it's debated....Police issue vRS' had no other performance modifications aside from updated brake pads (usually Green Stuff).

So there we go, hope it helps!

I've kinda made it my business to know all about WRC's and Police Spec!

Mike :)

yep i think we all agree its a ex police car

but have to say even the wrc arnt that specail when it comes to special additions should have been called the vrs+

as to call it a wrc when it has no performance or handling upgrades or aero dynamic upgrades is crap imo

I see your point, but I think the "WRC" name is something created by Skoda Fans.

To the best of my knowledge, the car was marketed as a car "Celebration of 100 years in Motorsport".

Sure, it's not any better in the performance department,

But it did have WRC style stickers, and it had Candy White paint and Wheels which mimic that of the Octavia WRC.

Not to mention, it also has a ton of extras that are still hard to find on most vRS' today.

I have owned 4 vRS' in total, and I genuinely believe it looks great in White.

Had it not have been for ex-Police cars surfacing on the market, it's a rare colour...and is still hard to find.

The ironic thing is, for how "un-special" you claim it to be, you don't see ANY true replicas, which helps keep them unique.

Even the car that started this topic is a far cry from the real thing!

Rest assured, and like it or not, the WRC is special in it's own way and THE most desirable MK1 vRS today because of the exclusivity.

Off the top of my head (please correct me if I'm wrong) I think the WRC is still the rarest VAG production car to date (not including one off Porsches and Bentleys etc!)

My car still gets nods and thumbs up from other VAG owners, so clearly people know what it is.

Beastly performance? No.

Rare Beast? Yes.

agree its rare but in terms of a special edition its truly poor

should have come with the k04 bam engine and had handling mods to

they call it a wrc yet it didnt even have a wrc spoiler added

its just a police car with stickers :p :giggle:

and on that note never understood why people remove stickers one of the main selling points to the vrs + was that ( wrc lol)

skoda failed imo to really do something that was special

they will always have poor handling etc if left standard hardly wrc material

You are missing the point of the WRC. It was solely a limited edition Vrs with fairly robust spec. That's the reason we buy them. Not for their outright performance but in my personal case, a car that looks different, like a rally car without the implications of Insurance, running costs etc.

The selling cost would have horrific for Skoda to do a limited run of VRs with the 225BHP engine, or Homolagation special with 4xwheel drive, extra performance. If you want that you buy an ex works car forr circa £80K (ouch)

In the end I have a unique car that I love. Paid twice what its was worth but hey.

It must be nice to own one, but in reality the differences are fairly minimal and rather cosmetic. I personally think it would have been better to have improved the handling and performance as Westallc indicates, given it is the RS, which people are buying at least in part because it is a quick car.

I've seen quite a few pics of members cars which taking into account their looks and the mods they have carried out, would have been a far better template for a special edition than what Skoda chose.

I would still prefer to own one though, but wouldn't pay much of a premium to do so.
