newbie with basic questions..

Featured Replies

hi all,

just picked up my first octavia yesterday (x reg tdi 110 ) 200 mile drive home and probably the best 200 miles ive driven in a long time.. best diesel ive ever owned so much better than my old focus (fuel pump died- new car required) the power/ smoothness/ road holding is fantastic!

basic questions-

1) where is the fusebox located (tried searching forum.. couldnt find) i want to remove fuse 17 or is it 15? ( my gauges decide not to work when and as they want.. )

2) ive got a few central locking issues- dosnt work at all the n/s/r door is jammed- not opening from inside and out, im guessing that the two issues may be connected? is there any common faults to look out for with the central locking?

3) passenger front window isnt working- again any common faults to check first?

apart from these small issues its a great looking car, feels really solid and is an absolute joy to drive, might consider one of these ebay economy chips, especialy if they keep taking the p*ss with the cost of fuel? any ideas on these chips?

thanks in advance to anyone who can shed any light on these, steve

Hi again.

1) Answered on "introduce yourself"

2) This is often the solonoid or door wiring th the affected door. Guess how hard getting the door card off with the door closed is [swearbox on IBAN 24567891234567889 ;) ).

3) Does it make noises when you use the switches? If so, it's probably a broken regulator. Otherwise, start in the fusebox, then proceed to the switches, door to pillar wiring and motor in that order.
