NOT a happy Skoda owner..

Featured Replies

Not at all happy with what has happened late last week...

My Octy was suffering from a couple of issues... That I advised of when it was serviced just before Xmas...

Due to need for a loan car.. I had to wait until last Thurs..

Parts needed replacing included the steering column.. which had play in it..

Was told by the Service manager that I could have the Fabia loan car until Saturday.. He even told me that as service closed at 12-30pm they would leave the keys with the sales team.. So no rush to return the Fabia...

I got a phonecall Sat morning around 10-30am with a dealer receptionist demanding that the loan car was due back at 8-30am ... I told her that I had

not been told this.. If I had then it would have been back by then....

So not happy with this I went to pick my car up... Got into it and attempted

to adjust the seat and steering to suit.. To find that steering will not adjust

for reach.. So back in the dealers who spend 20mins 'looking' at it

To tell me that it is prob a updated part and I would need to wait until the Skoda service/parts guy comes in..

Also There is now a rattle from behind the dash when pressing the clutch..

and there is loose trim below the instrument pod...

Also Could someone tell me if there is any cover over the ODP port..

If there is then mine is missing......

In my dealings with 2 dealerships.. I find the service and care somewhat lacking!

The loan cars are usually filthy inside and out.. without screenwash, sometimes with rear washers not working etc...

My car almost allways is as dirty when I collect it as it went in...

Once it had a big oily finger print on a newly fitted seat base cover..

the steering wheel also feels like someone has not either removed gloves or washed hands before moving it...

In comparison the Volkswagen dealer and Seat Dealer I have used have always provided a spotless loan car ( some of the Seat's had a few problems ) Always washed and vac'ed my car before returning it and

never had incorrect parts fitted, and all the trim was put back in place correctly...

Winge Winge....

Cheers

Dazzz :(

so what happened when the parts guy came in??

did they sort it for you in the end??

My dealer does not wash my car when i put it in for service.

But I never have a problem with Loan cars, I would suggest, you goto another dealer, to get your problem resolved, and ask about a loan car ( some dont do it ).

It might be a pain, but you may get better service, @ the new dealer when you describe the previous service.

Dealers cannot afford to loose customers, and a bad review on a site like this would do no good for your current dealer.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Steve

My dealer doesnt wash mine either, I am kind of glad that they dont. At least I know how and what my car has been cleaned with and can only blame myself for any scratches etc.

I agree with your comments on the loan car. I once had one that had the rear door cards off because they were trying to fix something inside the door.

Finally managed to speak to Service manager....

He told me that the P/N was correct... So there might be a pin or something you have to remove to all reach adjustment....? I asked why the Tech continued to fit this part and did they not check for correct operation?

Hrmm... As dealer is twinned with a Vauxhall dealer... me things a Vauxhall trained tech carried out this work... Instead of a Skoda techie...

As the trims around are either loose or rattling... And I think there is a panel missing.. within the lower os panel.. Is there a cover that fits on to cover up the OBD port?

I can only conclude that even though P/N was correct that an incorrect part was put in the box... It depends on the physical appearance of the two side by side...

Maybe Ross can help me out here?

cheers

Are you sure it wasn't a Proctologist you visited :D

It sure as hell wasn't a properly qualified tech-monkey...no wonder we have a dim view of some dealers and their staff??

Perhaps the techy needs "recalibrating"? I find the "reset" button is on the back of the skull and is accessed by a dongl ekey resembling a length of 4"x2" swung from six feet to point of impact

Mine has a cover over the OBD port so I would assume that yours is missing.

Mine has a cover over the OBD port so I would assume that yours is missing.

Ours doesn't

Mine didn't have one either.

This is down to one of two factors:

Either it wasn't considered a requirement on the pre-facelift models. (circa 2000) as there wasn't even any groves for one to fit into

OR

The previous owner (a security firm pool car) had a VAG-COM cable and where not afraid to use it..........

AS a small aside, there is no cover over the port on my 2001 Passat, and thats supposed to be a more "up-market" car.........

 . Make sure you write a review of this dealer so we can all avoid them,

More proof Skoda have no idea on servicing or aftercare issue's...................

you could try e-mailing this 'Muppet' IIRC he's top dog at Skoda Cutomercare

[email protected]

If nothing more you'll save 2 weeks talking to the monkeys.

I'm awating a call to get the part replaced with a correct version..

As my car is a vRS and that only came in after the facelift..

I don't remember having a under tray on the drivers side..

But without seeing another vRS.. to be sure then I cannot kick up a fuss.

Also the part they've fitted cut down the 'play' but there still is a clunk.. there...

Does anyone else suffer from this problem...???

cheers

There should be a lower cover going back around the pedals under the dash tray (where the OBD port is) it is black and held in with two T20 torx screws and two clips that are part of the trim.

And yes there should be a cover on the port, but more often than not there isnt as they dont get put back on or get knocked off.

Being new to Skoda, can someone tell me how the dealers do so well with customer satisfaction (i.e. JD Power)? The two I've been to were both awful, even worse then VW, nowehere near as good as Vauxhall

Update..

Car going in this weekend...

One for Ross to confirm or not...

Apparently the is a peg or lug that needs to be removed before install..

The peg is there for shipping reasons? If this is the case then why was it not removed?

cheers

Be glad your car isn't washed by the dealer. Mine went in for a service on friday, and came back suspicously clean

I hadn't thought about it, but today i went to the boot to get something out, and noticed that the plate attached to the towbar, which holds the electrics for trailers etc has been bent inward about 45 degrees. I panicked, thinking someone must have hit the car to do that, then after an inspection i realised that the area around the towbar hadn't been cleaned. They have obviously used one of those mechanical roller washers, which was so strong, it has bent the tow bar plate

I shall be examining the car closely for any scrapes etc, and they shall be informed NEVER to put my car through one of those washes again!

Its ****es me off even more, because i am so careful, and only ever handwash the car.
