hi all,

in the process of replacing my n/s/r door latch :'( on my mk1 octy..

really struggling with it, any ideas on how you get the handle control cable into the hook on the door latch? looks like a total nightmare :(

it just twist round and slots in, no biggy/

just worked it out- you fit the latch with the cable (attached to the latch) then fit the handle and slot the semi circle cable end into the handle.. phew :smirk:

now to try and work out why the central lockings not working :'(

1) checked fuses ok..

2) try replacing o/s/f c/l unit.. - lets see what happens :wonder:

gutted- os/f central locking unit did not solve it :'(

anybody got any ideas? where is the central locking control unit located ?(its a 2000 1.9tdi )

just scanned it with the diagnostics- not recognising the passenger side module :S

Try cleaning the connectors from the A post to the door. They can get corroded. I think it's a twist off plug type.

I think this is common if you change them. I changed mine and when they scanned the car at the service is came up with a similar message, but mine works. Check for water ingress in all connections and see if there is any damage to the loom by the a post.

Failing that it could be a faulty central convenience unit?

the only bit of life im getting with the system is a click from under the drivers side dash when i press the button to lock all doors.. im starting to thing its the convenience unit :( i reckon another trip to the scrappy :( where is the convenience unit located? what does it look like? will i need to reprogramme it with vag com?
