hmmm you may joke about it buts its not funny when your trying to overtake etc and the wheels just spin, you have to take your foot off the throttle for it to grip and go

Best get your car to a garage then...

Still cant see how it's like that, unless you're driving like a loon, even then, i doubt you'd be getting wheelspin in 6th !

Ok, just to satisfy my curiosity I thought I would check this out today.

At 80mph in 6th I was at 2400rpm. The road was dry. I have Dunlop winter sp 3d's on. I firmly depressed the accellerator. My wheels did not spin. Suprise.

I stand by my last post.

Get some decent tires and learn how to drive your car properly and safely.

See information like no traction light coming on would be usefull to know! that straight away leads to clutch slip......

Just saying if you want an answer all the information is usefull!

Daft question time, does the speedo go up when your clutch is slipping and matches the revs flying up?

I doubt it. :D Revs FLY up and little or no change in speed at all. There is wheelspin and there is clutch slip. Very very different things. Wheelspin won't actually cause the speedo to jump either as its read from a back wheel/s. :D If the O.P already has a Helix clutch and has cooked it, something must be amiss - either a highly abusive driving style, or the clutch was just not what it was meant to be.

I thought the speedo read the speed from the driven wheels

Indeed. It's scary that the OP can't tell the difference...

You sure about that Jason? Usually taken from the final drive.

Well indeed.
