Stretched tyres... Not very stretched.

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, ive had goodyear 205/40/17 on my s3 wheels (215/40) and they had a nice stretch, enough so they didnt rub on any arches (untill I got spacers) and recently I bought some Yokohoma Parada Spec 2's in the same size but they don't seem to have the same stretch :( Does anybody know which tyres stretch further and which dont as 195/40/17 isnt really an option as theres no good brands available. Also my alternator belt snapper earlier, does anybody know a cause to this? Could it be my diesel leak corroding everything rubber?

Should have got a non-SE!

I think you have found the problem.

Dude, no offence to anyone on here but the tyer strech question is better asked on E38.

As for the alt belt snappage, could be anything, age, tension, the spill.

Got a photo of the snapped belt?

Derv on a belt is likely to make it die earlier than it otherwise would.

You not fixed that leak yet?

mate hit your head off the wall cause you must be retarded to run with spacers on s3 wheels!!!

there is simply no need.... s3 wheels clear brembo's ffs..... if your going to be plain stupid stop whinging about it

Thanks, so must you for having a yellow car  With a little more stretch it would have worked... or if I didnt take the hole family out for a meal. Either of the two. Theres no need for any mods, Just "Wants". If you dont like me suggesting it then leave the forum, and if I didn't maybe there would be a few more victims of the s3 spacer disaster.

Depends on what make and model tyre as my post says the parada's dont have the same stretch

Something like Falken 452s have quite a stretch on them (well not really but more than Parada as do Toyo T1Rs

205/40 is really as narrow as you want to go considering they normally have 225/45 on them on an S3

I've just fitted some 195/45 on my mini comps which are only 7" wide and that took 100PSI to get them on the bead, hell of a bang.

I've had no help from you, just abuse when I ask for a little advise.

Seems to be the same from most members on here

Any pics from a side view Ross ie down the side of the car

not really, i gave you advice last time you asked....

then i also gave you advice this time and a little bit of abuse

All tyres are not made to the exact same size - if you actually measure the thread width some of them arent 205mm wide. some are 207, some are 203. Some have straighter sidewalls, some have more of a curve to them.

Hope that helps??
